New Project: IBM RESEARCH LAB INTERNSHIPS FOR STUDENTS UNDER ACE ProgramObjective: To provide opportunities for ACE students (MSc and PhDs) to shadow IBM Research Scientists on topics that are important for Africa such as Healthcare, Water Management, Agriculture, Climate Change etc. This will also allow the students to harness their research skills and leverage technology in the advancement of their research.

Location: Nairobi (Kenya) and Johannesburg (South Africa) Duration: 6 months (Kenya) and up-to 12 months (South Africa)

Job role curriculum focusing on latest open source technologies (such as Hyperledger, Apache, Node-RED, etc.) and hands-on labs on IBM tools such as Qradar, SPSS, IBM Cloud, IBM Watson, Mainframe, IoT, and others.

Portal with LMS functionality that includes all the learning assets. Educational cloud to host hands-on lab. The Educational cloud can be either installed public (IBM Cloud), or Private (Data center, NREN, and IBM Client center). Provides flexibility with various internet connections.

Skills Academy provides two exams: a practice test to help students prepare for the final exam. Then, the final exam which is proctored by instructors, where students can prove their expertise on subjects learned.

Students receive an Open Badge that is accredited by Credley’sAcclaim. Badge contains all the metadata to show skills learned. Students can share badges on Social Media such as LinkedIn, Twitter, and Facebook to increase employability.

Expose certified students, who obtained a badge, to the employers such as IBM, Business Partners, and IBM customers. This tool helps grow the IBM ecosystem for the skills on emerging technologies. This tool is GDPR compliant.

A career oriented classroom based training for Academia, that focuses on IBM technologies and tools in Cloud, Analytics, Cybersecurity, Big Data, Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, IoT, Mainframe, etc. The program helps students prepare for the job market, through IBM Digital Badges and Recruiters’ tool.
