IBM Work on Skills in the Community from “Cradle to Career”

IBM’s Corporate Citizenship portfolio spans early childhood and STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) education, along with early college programs and a focus on teacher professional development

– P-TECH 9-14 model: Provides students with an Associate in Applied Science degree that will lead to a career in the IT industry or ongoing education in a postsecondary institution

– Mentoring: Providing thousands of young people with access to adult role models, with a focus on academics

– Teachers TryScience: Strengthens teacher instruction in project-based learning by providing high quality STEM lessons integrated with pedagogical supports, including actual video examples of teacher instruction

A new grades 9-14 school model focused on STEM

Our Mission:

– Enable students to master the skills and knowledge that they need to graduate with an associate degree

– Secure an entry-level position in the highly competitive IT industry or to continue and complete study in a higher education institution.

P-TECH provides students with a school-college-career continuum that helps them understand the direct links between what they are

learning today and the workplace.

NYC High School Standards:80% of the legacy cohort is meeting

or exceeding state standards in English and math.

College Readiness:50% of the legacy cohort has met

college-ready benchmarks in both English and math

College Credit Completion:74 students are enrolled in at least

one of nine college courses, including Programming and Calculus
