Lufthansa has opened a COVID-19 testing facility at Frankfurt Airport, allowing passengers to take a COVID-19 test before or
UK-based organisations have developed their own ‘in house’ COVID-19 testing capabilities:
after taking a flight and results can be communicated in as little as three hours and priced between c.€50-120.
Pre-flight screening and reduction of quarantine for international travel remain critical issues for the travel industry.
Getting fans back to stadia, and providing scaled, proactive testing that can be accessed by fans is seen as critical.
Data-driven, proactive, safe return to the workplace is the major driver -asymptomatic carriers are a key risk.
What is IBM Digital Health Pass?
Digital Health Pass is a platform that integrates test certification, permissioned data sharing and analytics across multiple parties, to allow organisations to take a data-driven approach for the safe return to work, travel and entertainment.
• Create, share and verify digital certificate for multiple user journeys (return to work, travel, entertainment)
• Accelerates access to trusted test capacity from the private sector
• API-centric and design for integration with multiple systems – reflective of global private and public sector COVID responses

Indicative User Journey (Outbound or Inbound)
Traveller downloads the Health Pass app and creates a profile with
passport info and flight details
Traveller receives invitation to use Health Pass to validate entry
requirements
Health Pass informs traveller of entry
requirements and directs them to approved list of locations to make appt
Traveller gets COVID19 test at approved location
Traveller’s ID is verified. Health Pass pings entry requirement database
based on profile and flight information
Based on departure location, Health Pass pings
approved location database / service
Test is linked to traveller by passport number and
relevant LOINC code
Traveller receives results from test provider
Traveller verifies test result via Health Pass app and
gets green light to fly
Traveller checks in at airport, providing agent with QR code to prove
eligibility (kiosk / off-site check in future phases)
If cleared, passenger proceeds through standard
security and boarding processes
Upon arrival, passenger provides border agent with QR code to grant entry into
the country
Health Pass informs traveller of post-flight test requirements and directs them to approved list of locations to make appt
Traveller gets COVID19 test at approved location
Traveller receives results from test provider
Traveller verifies test result via Health Pass app and is informed of exemption to
quarantine if negative
