What are iBeacons? Search

iBeacons

iBeacons are Apple’s soware implementation of beacons which have been effective since the introduction of iOS7. iBeacons use Bluetooth LE-based technology that extends location-based services within iOS devices.

Beacons

Standalone beacons are sensor devices, which have been developed by 3rd party companies such as Estimote, that can be strategically placed in locations to target consumers via any bluetooth-enabled mobile device (including non-Apple devices).
