IAP-in-a-Box ” Testing Hood Specifications Sheet  By Aprovecho Staff, August 2013 www.aprovecho.org +1 (541) 767-0287 Purpose: The “IAP-in-a-Box” system was created to allow stove designers to test and monitor total stove emissions using Aprovecho’s portable Indoor Air Pollution (IAP) Meter. Everything in this system except the IAP Meter and blower is to be built on-site where stoves are being designed and tested. The system is a meant to be a cost-effective tool for testing relative changes in total stove emissions. Below is a diagram and list of materials needed to construct this system. Following these specifications, this set-up was found to produce consistent results regardless of the placement of the IAP meter in the box. The flow rate inside the duct was found to be 0.60 inches H 2 0 on 115V and 60 Hz. If you are in a location with 50 Hz power please contact us about measuring the flow rate. Equipment Required:  Aprovecho IAP Meter (www.aprovecho.org)  Dayton 1TDU2 Blower or similar (http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/static/tf_m_daytonblowers.html) Materials Required:  6” straight duct x 50 cm  6” elbow duct  20 cm diameter round metal deflector plate  3 m 2 sheet metal for hood and baffle  3 m 2  temperature resistant cloth or metal for sides of hood  6 m 2  plywood or metal for box
