Aim of the live educational conferenceImmunotherapy is now emerging as a promising treatment option forcancer patients. The concept of cancer immunotherapy dates back tothe late nineteenth century and since then considerable knowledge hasbeen obtained on different strategies aimed to induce specific antitumorresponse. Cancer immunotherapy includes active immunization, suchas therapeutic cancer vaccines, and passive immunization, such asmonoclonal antibodies that activate endogenous immune responseagainst tumor cells. Recent positive results from clinical trials in cancerimmunotherapy demonstrate the potential of immune-based strategiesto provide effective treatment in a variety of cancer types. Thecombination of standard chemotherapy and radiation therapy withcancer immunotherapy is currently under evaluation.
Learning objectivesAfter attending this live educational conference, learners will be able to:• Discuss different strategies in cancer immunotherapy• Summarize recent advances in the development and clinicalapplication of cancer immunotherapy in prostate, lungand breast cancer
