DAY 1- LESSON PRESENTATION Present lesson. Print and have your child color the activity page included in lesson. Conclude each activity with your testimony. PHRASE/WORD RECOGNITION (REPEAT DAILY) Young children – “I’m sorry.” Older children – “I will say, ‘I’m sorry’ ”. DAY 2 - ART ACTIVITY Make a necklace or do a fun art project with scribble cookies! Help your child cutout one of the circles on the activity page completed on Day 1. This is to be glued to the middle of a scribble cookie background. Scribble cookies are simply leftover crayon stubs which have been melted in the oven. Peel the paper from the crayons and break them into small, but not miniscule pieces. Place them into an old muffin tin using several colors together to make rainbow scribble cookies. Place the tin into a warm oven that has been turned off. Watch carefully as the crayons melt and soften, floating in liquid wax. Remove them when they are partially melted, but not liquid pools. Let them cool. To easily remove scribble cookies, freeze them while they are still in the muffin tin and they will pop right out. Let the scribble cookies thaw briefly before using. Break the cookies in half to give the artist a flat side and a round side. Then, place a white sheet of paper over a cheese grater to some other textured surface. Help your child scribble a background. DAY 3 – SCRIPTURE MARKING Retell the story of Nephi building the ship. Review 1 Nephi 17:7-8, 17-19, 49-55, 18:1. NEPHI BUILDS A BOAT

Nephi: God told me to build a ship that would carry our family and friends to a special place, a promised land.

Nehpi: Look. The Lord showed me how to make the tools to build the boat.

Laman: I am not helping.

Lemuel: I don’t think Jesus told you to build a boat. You don’t know how to build a boat. I am not helping either.

Nephi: Jesus told us all to build a boat. You need to help. You need to choose the right. You need to do what the Lord tells you to do.

Laman: Lemuel, let’s throw Nephi into the ocean.

Nephi: Don’t touch me. The Lord will protect me.

Narrator: Many days passed. Laman and Lemuel still did not help build the boat and were mean to Nephi. Jesus told Nephi to hold out his hand towards Laman and Lemuel and He would shock them to show them they must obey Him.

Nephi: You must obey the Lord Jesus Christ.

Laman: No I won’t.

Lemuel: I won’t either.

Nephi: Then you will feel the Lords power. (pretend to shock Laman and Lemuel)

Laman: I am sorry, Nephi. I will help you. I will obey Jesus. I will obey our parents.

Lemuel: I am sorry, too. I know Jesus told you to build a boat. I will help.

Narrator: Nephi forgave his brothers. They all worked hard together to build a ship.

Nephi: We built a good ship.

Lemuel: It is a strong ship.

Laman: We can all get on it. We can go to the land the Lord saved for us.

Nephi: I will go and do what the Lord commands. He commanded me to build a boat. I did it!
