This study aims to evaluate the chemical and structural characteristics of acetylated xylan isolated from sugarcane bagasse.

Where: a) PAA-holocellulose, b) NaClO2-holocellulose; c) xylan isolated by DMSO from PAA-holocellulose; d) xylan extracted by DMSO from NaClO2- holocellulose.
1H NMR spectrum of bagasse xylan extracted by DMSO from PAA-holocellulose (solvent is DMSO-d6).
FINAL CONSIDERATIONS

• Xylan was isolated by two methods – from PAA and NaClO2 holocelluloses;
• Xylan sample isolated by PAA-holocellulose contained higher amount of xylose;
• The structure of xylan was confirmed by FTIR and 1H NMR methods;
• More detailed information on structure will be provided by SEC and linkage analysis.
