It is with great pride that I welcome you to the stands for what is sure to be a memorable season of Ann Arbor Pioneer football. After a

summer full of dedicated training and workouts, we enter this fall with high expectations. I encourage you to support our players and coaches in any way you can, and I thank you for your participation in the game tonight.

Our goal is to build and improve upon an athletic program that enriches our students through hard work, sportsmanship, and competition. We are constantly impressed by the dedication shown by our players and cannot wait to see what they are capable of on and off the field this season and into the future as well.

Bill Bellers >> VARSITY HEAD COACH / CO-DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR

Bill Bellers has coached at Ann Arbor Pioneer since the 2013 football season when he was hired as the head JV coach and served in that position until being hired as the Varsity Head Coach in 2017. Coach Bellers has coached football since 2001, serving as an assistant coach at the JV and Varsity levels, as a Head Coach at the Middle School and Freshman levels and also serving as a Varsity Defensive Coordinator for 5 years at Clarenceville and Whitrmore Lake High Schools. Coach Bellers played football at Lincoln High School where he was a two-year starter and all-league player, he then went on to play two years at Adrian College before beginning his coaching career. Coach Bellers is in his 5th year teaching U.S. History at Pioneer High School and is married to his wife Lisa and they have two beautiful children Alexander and Molly (both huge Pioneer fans!).

Gabe Burdette >> JUNIOR VARSITY HEAD COACH

Gabe Burdette is in his third season as the JV Head Coach after spending the previous year as a Varsity Assistant Coach at Tecumseh High School. Coach Burdette has coached football since 2002 as an assistant coach at the Freshman, JV and Varsity levels, including two stints at Pioneer (2004 – 2006 and 2016 seasons). Coach Burdette played high school football at Lincoln High School and went on to play two years at Kalamazoo College. Coach Burdette was also on the Kalamazoo College Baseball Roster for four years.Coach Burdette currently works as a Financial Consultant for St. Joseph Mercy Health System in Ann Arbor and is a CPA. He is married to his wife Tara and they have two children, Owen and Violet.

Jeremy Bell >> FRESHMAN HEAD COACH

Jeremy Bell enters his second season as the Freshman Head Football Coach after having been an assistant coach for two seasons. Prior to joining Pioneer, Coach Bell served as an assistant football, wrestling, and track coach in the Milan School district in a variety of roles at the youth, middle school and high school levels for the past 15 years. Coach Bell played high school football at Milan High School where he earned all-league, region and area honors.Coach Bell also joined the academic staff at Pioneer last year where he serves as Teacher Assistant for an A.S.D. classroom, and is married to his wife Kristina, and they have two children, Roman and Katie.
