Consider authorizing Director Harper to attend the American Public TransportationAssociation's(APTA) Fare Collection/Revenue Management & TransITech Conferences, Apri19-11, 2018 in Jacksonville, Florida.
BACKG ROUND/RATIONALE
Pursuant to Board Policy 155, all out-of-state travel for Directors and Officers to attend aconference or a meeting related to District business and at District expense, shall be approvedby action of the Board of Directors prior to incurring expenses- This travel authorization hasbeen prepared in accordance with Board Policy 155.
The Fare Collection/Revenue Management Conference discusses revenue management issueswhich provide a broader perspective of fare collection operations. Transit agencies of all sizesand fare collection methods attend to discuss current fare collection projects and issues, shareexperiences and best practices with their peers, and review situations of concern to multipleagencies
The TransITech Conference will feature the many facets of "Innovation." As technology andadvanced practices find their way into the transit industry, there is a need to address the meansof managing innovation in the best interest of operations and safety. The latest in the field oftechnology will also be featured with presentations and interactive sessions in bus, rail anddemand responsive applications.
Upon return from the trip, Directors are required to provide a brief oral or written summary oftheir activities and/or information learned during the trip not later than the next Boardmeeting
In accordance with Policy 155, the Board is asked to authorize out-of-state travel to the 2018APTA Fare Collection/Revenue Management & TransITech Conferences for Director Harper.
