In September 2014 the International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering (IABSE), the international organization repre-senting the worldwide civil and structural industry, is holding a major symposium in Madrid, the 37th IABSE Symposium Madrid 2014 “Engineering for Progress, Nature and People”.

This will be a showcase for international construction and an oppor-tunity for Spain as host nation to demonstrate the capabilities and ac-tivities of its construction sector, with a strong showing by engineers, architects, contractors, suppliers, researchers, clients and others.

Madrid is one of the most attractive cities in the world: museums, ex-hibitions, unique collections, a word-renowed opera season, a varied theatre, sports and cultural events, etc. The upshot of this is that not only is Madrid the best city for business, but for culture and leisure too. Madrid has an extraordinary atmosphere, providing the perfect venue for this unique event.

In 2014, the association is holding the 37th IABSE Symposium Madrid 2014 “Engineering for Progress, Nature and People” at the Technolo-gical Institute of the University CEU San Pablo in Madrid during 3-5 September 2014.

The IABSE Annual Meetings (Executive, Technical and Administrative) will be held at the same venue from 31 August to 2 September, 2014.

This Symposium is expected to attract over 800 delegates from around 60 countries, with considerable interest from a diverse range of organizations and construction industry professionals. The Sympo-sium is aimed at practicing engineers, architects, researchers, clients, constructors and all those involved in developing or studying the built environment.

A special round table will be held on the Spanish Structural Enginee-ring.
