Q34 - Comments about hours of operation, facilities, or equipment:

Comments about hours of operation, facilities, or equipment:

I understand the hours are limited, but I am adjusting to having a 24 hour gym.

When the Hpc court is closed... PLEASE ALLOW THE STUDENTS WHO PAY FOR THE SERVICES AT LEAST USE THE PHE!

Hours of operation are fair. The facilities and equipment are very nice I enjoy using them.

Hours of operation during the week is good, but during the weekends it could be extended, especially for the pool area. Equipment like treadmillssometimes are full, so maybe an addition of some new equipment will be good for our gym.

better update equipment and more space

Summer hours should be extended

I would like to see the punching bag brought back.

I feel it would be good if the hours of operation would be at least till 9 pm. The facilities are magnificent and I suggest presence of more trainers and afree sessions on usage of equipment would be more beneficial

No real complaints other than that when the gym is busy there typically won't be enough open space for stretching and other non-machine/non-freeweight exercises. A third location may alleviate this issue, but I can't really plot a good location due to the size of the gym.

Good hours

Are not open long enough during the weekends.

more hours of operation

We should have lockers that have locks already Installed. And a better locker room too

Hours are good just wish it was open just a little later

There are numerous weight machines that could be implemented to give a larger variety of resistance movements to individuals. Most of the currentequipment is in fair shape. There is a decent amount of dumbbells as well. I've had multiple women complain that there isn't a Donkey Kick machine, and they don't want to stand in front of everyone on the gym floor and attempt to perform that movement on the smith machine.

It is very accommodating!

I have enjoyed the facilities when I have gone in. The hours work for me. I mainly use it when I can't make it to the gym I work at.

I would prefer that it was open for longer hours. I have early classes and don't get done until about an hour before it closes.

The gym needs more stair master machines and other various cardio equipment.

It's all good.

I love how early/late the gym is open during the week

Wish we had more space for cardio equipment and mats! Also, wish the Saturday hours were a bit different. Also, MORE OUTDOOR ADVENTURES!Really can't complain about anything; our facilities are amazing and the staff is always so nice. I love the HPC and our campus recreation.

Amazing facility!

Would be awesome if the hours were longer

Hours fit my needs. The facility & equipment is perfect for me.

more short people freindly

The hours are easy to work with my workout routine

the hours during the week are really nice because students can work out before classes begin and there is enough time in the afternoon to work outafter night classes as well, the weekend hours are good, not super ideal but it's just harder in general to accommodate different hours when lessstudents are on campus on the weekends anyways. wish there was more stretching area room, only a very small corner downstairs and the small areaupstairs behind the track.

More lanes in th swimming pool

On weekends hours should be a little bit longer. Over the summer they NEED to be longer opening at 6 and closing at 7 makes people who work not beable to go to the gym.

Should be open later on weekends

Longer hours on the weekends

Could be open longer on weekends.

I understand that people don't want to work as long on the weekend, but that is when people have more time to work out.

I believe there could be more cardio machines as several times that I would go to the gym most of them would be in use.

I appreciate the communication of when hours change by email.

Longer hours especially on the weekends will be better, if the library did it I then it would be cool if y'all do it

Hours are okay, just hard to remember Plenty of Equipment Would like some more space to be able to stretch without being In the way of someone

it would be nice if there was a basketball gym that solely for students use.

I wish the dungeon could stay open as long at the gym. Some sports might have people working out on their own because of class conflicts.

They need to be earlier in the day, like 4 or 5 AM

Good quality equipment that's well kept. Hours are good for my schedule.

Wish it had extended hours for students who have late classes or Get off of work late. Got another membership at planet fitness just so I could workout around 10:30/11 pm.

I think the gym could use more free weights and platforms for deadlifting

Wish it was 24 hrs since I work full time and go to school full time

update the equipment please

have a schedule for when the basketball court is open

wish the equipment was more up to date, they do not have all the equipment i wish they had.

Gym should be bigger for what a membership cost

24 hour gym allows more on campus jobs, and total access for difficult schedules

Later hours if available

The workout facility is great, and I use it every week to better my health!

It sucks that the gym closes earlier on fridays than on the other weekdays

N/A

Would love to see gym be open 24 hours

Need longer hours, a few more cardio and weight machines. Overall acceptable.

None

I wish there were more stair stepping machines

Sometimes I feel that the hours don't stay open long enough on certain days particularly for my schedule but everything else is great

I would like more weight machines. For example, squat rack.

I only use the gym, pool, and track. The gym sometimes does get crowded. Could use a few more machines.

Would like to see weekend hours expanded.

The Saturday hours shouldn't be open so early as much as they should be open a little later. People who work on Saturday have no chance to workoutuntil around 4 or 5.

Wish the gym was open from 5am-12am

In summer time, hours were very short

I wish the rec center was open for longer hours.

None

Good equipment and fair hours of operation.

AMAZING!!!

None.

Great

Over all good experience

They are perfect

24 hr gym would be dope

It should be available for more hours during Summer

Could be open an hour earlier. Could have better equipment and more machines and less cardio.

Need more machines and benches!

Satisfied

I think we have a great team at HPC. It will be awesome to have some more equipments as there are many students who prefer going to on campusgym then getting a membership somewhere else.

It be nice to have more machines to tone arms and legs and also abs. Get more space for indoor equipment almost like SFA in Nac indoor gym.

hours need to be longer

Later hours would be convenient for many students.

Great!

Longer hours would be nice

More trails, please! The new business building destroyed too many.

the trails around campus need to be cleaned, there are a lot of beer bottles and trash out there

I love going to the gym at school because its convenient and safe! The instructors are always there to help.

good hours

Need to keep gym open longer

I have only experienced the group activities portion with the group trip to Durango, Colorado this past winter. Enjoyed the staff directing the trip andhad an overall fun and pleasant experience. I feel these programs of ut tyler should continue and expand as they help to improve the overall experienceas a student.

I don't normally use the machines but the staff should put "How to" pictures on how to use them. They would be very helpful to a person who has noidea on how to use them!

It would be better if the facility was open earlier/later on weekends. Also, it would be great if we had an indoor climbing gym or outdoor ropes coursefacilities. UT Tyler should purchase the old Arrowhead golf course for recreational facilities. (ROPES COURSE!!)

can be open more hours over the weekend

excellent hours, love how they close at such a late time!

I wish the HPC would open earlier on Sunday mornings.

needs to expand longer hours

The HPC is a very nice facility! It has all of the necessities for anyone who is into fitness or staying active! The people working at the front desk arealways welcoming and willing to help!

I wish there were longer hours during the summer and weekends due to most of us working during the day.

Gym needs more weight machines!

i like the hours

Very good

Great!!

I believe there's plenty of free weights, but there could be more weight machines, specially for chest exercises.

More available hours during weekends

It would be nice to have classes available a little earlier in the day (before noon), because anyone in the sciences has labs starting at 1:00, so you can'tattend a 12:00 fitness/group class and shower without being late for the labs.

It would be nice to have the gym opened until midnight.

n/a

Love the facility!

none

I feel like with us being a bigger school we should have better longer hours as well as a larger facility or even just more of a variety of machinesavailable to us.

I work part-time in campus computing. And I have shifts on weekend too till 4PM. Usually it's difficult for me to go to gym specially on Sunday as itcloses at 5. It should at least be 6. I am happy with the weekday operation hours!! I enjoy all the cardio equipments available and usually they areavailable.

The hours on the Saturday can be hard to fit into your schedule sometimes.

Hours are good but wish we could bring a workout buddy without an extra expense if they aren't a UT TYLER student.

Could have more equipment options

I think they are fine.

N/A

The hours work fine for my schedule

I love coming to the gym and the hours open!! It is Lways available when needed

Should be open as late as possible, and updated machines would be appreciated. Everything in the gym is worn out except the new leg press which issuper nice. But update the cable machine, and all other isolation machines.

Extended hours preferred

Moe hours during weekends and summer

hope you have more area for stretches and dumble work area.

needs to be open later

Increase hours of operation on weekends

24 hour gym!

I did not know of many of these operations or equipment. More information readily available would benefit better.

Better hours on weekends and maybe stay open later in general for people who get off work late or out of practices that want to lift.

N/A

I'm not a fan of the closing hours on Saturday and Sunday, that is usually my night off so I like to go to the pool or workout but the gym closes veryearly.

because I live in longview tx I don't have the time I need to participate as I would like too , but I do hope I will be able to start utilizing the facility in thefuture

I wish the HPC was open 24 hours. As a full time, working student its hard to make it to the HPC during open hours

I've been to several gyms and the HPC is one of my favorites. It has most all of the equipment and weights I need!

Page 12: I ni t i al R epor t - University of Texas at Tyler...I ni t i al R epor t Recr eat ional Spor t s Capit al I m pr ovem ent Sur vey 2017 F ebr uar y 26, 2018 3: 31 P M C S T Q 1 -

Needs to be open longer

I wish it was open longer at night

No complaints

The summer weekend hours are very short. Would appreciate if the gym was open later on weekends.

An indoor pool eventually would be great.

If they could stay open later on the weekends it would be helpful

Very good. Usually works with my schedule really well.

I think everything is great..

Everything is awesome!

It'd be nice if the hours on the weekends were the same as during the week closing at 11.

I'm satisfied.

I wish that the gym was open earlier and later, especially on weekends to fit in better with my schedule.

Open earlier on Sundays during the summer around 9 instead of 10 or stay open later

The hours of operation need to improve to increase for the summer because they close too early

i did not use them because i was very busy. I plan to use them next year

Try to have the gym hours 24/7. I know its difficult to have staff, but i feel a university of this stature should have a 24/7 gym.

The gym needs to stay open longer

There could be more space and machines made available. There should also be designated hours for only students to workout.

my schedule is just weird so i cant judge what is offered

I know it's silly to talk about 24 hour facilities, but that's my only comment

I really enjoy the gym!

I would like a little more dedicated stretching area as to not be in the way of people trying to put things away or use the mats for working out.

I use the gym when I can unfortunately not as often as i would like but I am wanting to turn over a new leaf so I will likely be in there more often.

The hours of operation need to be more convenient for students as well as providing more machines that vary in variety as well as equipmentthroughout the gym.

Yes I think the power lifters take over the weights down stairs and the hand weights upstairs are only low weight numbers and the benches are downstairs for the bars so it is limited for bar exercise upstairs

would like pool to have later hours

I love it, has plenty of choices to choose fromb

I would prefer if it did not close early on weekends.

stay open later in the summer please and thank you!

I feel like the hours are great and convenient for all ages and people for the times of the day

The equipment is really great and easy to use. Everything is always clean and fully functioning!

No basis to judge

They are fine.

Satisfactory

It would be nice to have earlier fitness classes available And childcare options

amazing

Hours of operation and facilities are great and targeted for the student.

need better barbells, all the barbells at the hpc have zero grip, this could potentially be dangerous too.

The equipment is good. I'm not for sure of they have the new type of exercise equipment where you can't take the bar off the rack and only glide with itas you squat; That would be something to add. Hours of operation is cool because I can go before school and after. Facility is always clean. I just wishthere were actual lockers to use for when exercising.

Hours of operation could extent to more availability for students who need more afternoon or even morning time. Facilities and cleaness of theenvironment is well managed.

Good setup

Great environment

It would be much more convenient for the closing time to be a little later, most people get off work at 5 and have hard time getting a workout in before7:30

During school hours it would be nice if had longer hours .

N/A

They should open earlier, offer more classes at earlier or later hours

Everything has been great for the past 4 years for me!

It will be better if the hpc building is open 24 hours during week ends

The hours are great during fall and spring semesters. The facilities are always clean and there is plenty of equipment.

I love it!

More basketballs

More weekend hours and another plyo class would be awesome

Extend hours. The hours are too short.

Would like equipment to be updated like on the bicycles with a virtual biking scene and need more workout equipment.

Sunday hours should close earlier

Cleanliness of the place, locker rooms, etc. need a little more attention. We need more water fountains and the scale for weigh-in, would be good tohave. We need another good one that is accurate and works well.

Love the space. great atmosphere and equipment!

Wish there was a sauna but overall great place to workout!

During the week the hours are great, but sometimes it can be inconvenient when the pool closes at 5 on the weekends.

Just wish the gym and study facilities would stay open a bit later even though it is summer and there are less students than your average spring or fallsemester.

would some TRX cables on third floor, by pull bar.

During the summer the hours could be longer.

Overall, it's a great to work out. The hours are great, I can workout between and after class. The environment there is also great, and there's a greatplaylist for workouts.

More yoga classes

Need to increase the number of table tennis tables.

Hours are good, except I wish they were open later in the summer. Especially the pool.

Longer hours on the weekend would be appreciated.

I like to workout in very early in morning, and would help had longer hours of operstion on weekends.

They work with me

I wish they could stay open till late

Good hours

When I do get to go to the facility, I am able to use the free weights, indoor track, and cardio equipment. Overall I have no complaints. There have beena few times where I was unable to use a treadmill due to them all being full. I haven't had any issues with any of the other equipment. I would suggestregulating or improving the sanitary conditions. My friends and I use the spray and wipes religiously but honestly don't see many other patrons usingit.

I really enjoy our gym! I think it's one of the best gyms in Tyler!! And the staff is always amazing

Open longer on Saturdays

I think the hours of operation on the weekend could be improved by staying open later on Sunday's

Works with me

Hours are great during the week but not quite sure about Saturday's.

Pool is a little disappointing

Things need to stay open later, especially for people who live on campus

I go to the gym in the mornings several times a week. Everyone there is very friendly and I love the atmosphere. Plenty of machines and free weights. Ilove the indoor track as well. I wish the gym was open earlier on the weekends though. I generally work out in the mornings. Not mid day.

None

I wish the gym was open later on the weekends

The working hours of gym should be extended from &PM to 11 PM during Summer, as students are almost free in the evening!

N/A

Hours of operation should be longer for both nights and weekends.

everything good

If there were more recreational classes offered in the summer. If there were a ceiling vaulted punching bag.

Up-to-date equipment and more space; A large indoor pool

I do not attend the Tyler campus, therefore do not have the opportunity to use the facility. I think the smaller campuses, such as the one in Palestine, should get something as well.

Make new students aware of what is available to them. I am a new student, and I have no idea if I have paid (with my tuition) for recreational facilityusage. I have no idea what, if anything, is available to me.

My likelihood of use of the recreational facilities, programs, and/or services would be if I was notified what they have. I have been their for over a yearnow, and I have been in the main area a total of once or twice and was not aware of anything inside the building. Also, when I went in the studentsworking assumed I knew where everything was, so I had to figure out where to go by myself.

Child care and or programs that allow for you to incorporate your children

More programs / trainers that are free for students or have a really cheap price. Not everyone has $50 or more to pay to get trained. I really would justlike someone to encourage me, keep me on the right track, and help hit the necessary spots to get my results that I want.

I don't know. I live about 50 miles away, and have been taking online classes. Thanks

I think that students who are retuning every year should have access to the gym even during the summer. A lot of people live there even during thesummer, and it can be expensive to pay for a membership. If someone is already enrolled for the next semester of classes, I see no reason why the gymand pool area should not be free.

Having more of a Variety of times for classes

Maybe a summer group once a week to gather individuals and pull them out of there apartments and away from summer studies. Maybe a goodintramural sport during the summer. Thatd be great!!
