“The 212° Concept”

The 212° Concept is a

powerful personal and

professional living idea. Several

years ago, Sam Parker and Mac

Anderson wrote a small book

entitled “212°, The Extra Degree”. If you’re

not familiar with this popular concept,

here’s the idea behind the concept. At 211

degrees, water is hot. At 212 degrees, water

boils. With boiling water, comes steam,

with steam a locomotive can operate, water

is purified, some foods are cooked, and the

list goes on and on and on. You get the

idea.

Ultimately, it is that one extra degree

Fahrenheit that makes all the difference. In

reality, so many times in life, as well, it is

that one extra degree of Effort that separates

the good from the great.

One of the most compelling notions

about The 212° Concept is that we can use it

in our personal, social, professional, and

spiritual lives, as well.

It may be The 212° Concept that you

would like to reinforce in your career, or a

212° attitude that you would like to adopt, or

a 212° leadership quality that you would like

to employ in your social life, or even a 212°

family discipline that you would like to

cultivate. Maybe, you would like to build

your entire spiritual self around The 212°

Concept to live differently in God’s love.

Whatever way or ways you employ The

212° Concept, you are encouraged to do so

as others from your church family will be

doing during the next 31 days, or so. We

will all look at ways to reach that extra one

degree in our lives.

All the best,

Jerre

El concepto 212°

El concepto 212° es una idea viva

profesional y personal poderosa.

Hace varios años, Sam Parker y Mac

Jerre

From my heart to yours

I tell you, you can pray for anything, and

if you believe that you’ve received it, it

will be yours – Mark 11:24 (NLT)

The pastor and author, David Yonggi

Cho, of the Full Gospel Church, Seoul,

Korea, in his book "The Fourth

Dimension" wrote:

“God never will produce any of his great works

in your life, unless it made by means of your

faith, your personal faith… What, then, are the

elements that can make usable my faith? There

are four basic proceedings in the incubation.

First, to use your faith you should have a clear

vision of your goal... Second, if you have a clear

vision, you may feel a burning desire for these

objectives... Third, you must have the substance

or security... Fourth, you must show its faith…”

(Chapter 1. Incubation: a law of faith - Pages 9-

29)

Ariel Kim, pastor of the Assemblies of God in

Buenos Aires, Argentina, writer (and disciple of

Yonggi Cho) says: "the fourth dimension is the

spiritual dimension that subjugates and

transforms the physical dimension and

material". The vision of this man of God is to

win America with the message of the fourth

dimension.

In one of my sermons I preached recently I

said "The limitation and obstacle, or victory and

success depend on people being able to believe

what Jesus can make": "If YOU can believe,

who believes ALL it is possible "- Mark. 9: 23.

We most activate our faith, to such a level that

can uproot mountains, regardless of the size of

it.

We are not the ones who will move it; but the

mighty hand of God, using His instruments: US.

The only gift (that also is a fruit), capable of

completely change the life of any human, is

called faith.

Everyone who wants to live successfully, have

to live in the fourth dimension; the dimension of

faith. I already made that decision. What about

you?

In the love of Christ,

Pastora Tania

No somos nosotros quienes las moveremos;

Pastora Tania

"I do not feel fully capable", "I feel I have to improve this or that", "I

don't believe I have great talents." 11 The LORD said to him, “Who gave human beings their mouths? Who makes them deaf or mute? Who gives them sight or makes them blind? Is it not I, the LORD? 12 Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say.” Exodus 4:11-12

Each of these excuses, because that is what they are, does not have a valid foundation before the eyes of God,

because who is fully prepared to do something for God? Or who has "big" talent?

Through the word of God it can be seen that the use of common, ordinary people, without great qualities and enormous talents, most of them were not Bible experts. The great majority of servants God used to work with were prepared by God Himself. It's time to provide and stop prolonging our hearts to serve Him. No more making excuses, better tell the Lord: HERE I AM! Isaiah 6:8

I want to thank God for the opportunity to share His work and mission to our children because they are the Church of today and tomorrow. I also want to thank SPRC who took the time to take me into consideration for this position. Thanks to everyone who was praying for the person who would occupy this position. I know that with the support of every person who is part and those that will be added to the ministry of Christian education team, we will achieve our mission: Create opportunities for people to encounter Christ in ways that they might believe and be made new.

Alma

Student MinistriesA Note From Bryce

"And as if it had been a light thing for him to walk in the sins of

Jeroboam son of Nebat, he took as his wife Jezebel daughter of

King Ethbaal of the Sidonians, and went and served Baal,

and worshiped him."

- 1 Kings 16:31

Not all of the characters that we will learn about as we

study "The B-Team" will be characters whose stories reveal a

close relationship with God. Some of these characters will help

us learn how we are to be in relationship with God through their

failings. Perhaps no character puts this into perspective better

than Jezebel. Although there is only a brief mention of Jezebel

in the Bible, we use the term "Jezebel" to refer to someone that

is manipulative, controlling, and leads people to do immoral

things.

So what exactly does the Bible say about Jezebel? It is

summed up in this one verse from 1 Kings. She married King

Ahab, and he went to serve the false God Baal. We also get the

feeling that she coerced him into turning to Baal, because he was

already doing evil in the sight of God. Then it seems to take a

turn for the worse when they get married. As our youth look at

this story and others this month, we will learn that those whom

we choose to associate with can have a great impact on our

spiritual life. Are you choosing to spend time with those that

will bring you closer to God? Or are they dragging you away

from God?

Weekly Programs

Sunday School: Our Sunday School program meets Sunday mornings from 10-11 in the RZ Room. We are working on "Synago" - from the greek meaning, "Come Together." Throughout this study we will discover how in working as a group, we draw closer to each other and to God. RZ (Reality Zone): Our youth ministry offers youth an opportunity to discover what it means to be in a real, authentic relationship with the God who created, redeems, and sustains all things. This year we are studying "The B-Team" in which we learn about Biblical characters who have been lost to time. Middle school meets from

4:15-7:30, while high school meets from 5:30-8:15.

What to Know: This month we kick off our

Confirmation class. Confirmation means "with firmness." As we

move through the class, the Confirmation students will learn

what the United Methodist Church believes. As we do, they will discover how these beliefs intersect with their own faith so

that they have the opportunity to "with firmness" what they believe

at the end of the class. This class is offered for any youth

who wish to participate, but is encouraged for 7th grade students

who wish to know more about who we are and what we believe.

SARAH SAYS

"I am the Light of the world." He said. "Whoever follows me will have the light of life and

will never walk in darkness." John 8:12

Glimmers in the Dark

Luci Swindoll When you were a child holding a mirror in your hand, if you caught a glint of the sun, that mirror reflected a beam that could actually illumine a dark place. That was pretty exciting! You had the power to shine in the darkness. It was better than holding a flashlight because the reflection source was from above you, not from batteries in your hand. It was a supernatural phenomenon to every small child. Each of God's children has the power to illumine darkness. This Light shows up in different forms: humor, kindness, forgiveness, practical deeds, peace, hope, grace- all characteristics that can come out of us when the Light Source shines through us! Remember the song "This little Light of Mine, I'm Gonna Let it Shine?" Sing that today as you go into the world, right where you are and "Brighten the Corner Where You Are!" Alzheimer's Support Group October 15, 2015 12-1 Library A supportive, confidential group of caregivers, family and friends who come together to share information, what has worked for them and to encourage each other on this hard road that surrounds the world of those with dementia. All are welcome! If this is your lunch hour, feel free to bring your lunch!

Joyful News!

“Praise the Lord. How good it is to sing praises to

our God.” Psalms 147:1

Wow, can you believe, that the summer, is over

and fall is here? I’m sad the summertime flew by

so quickly, but I’m happy for the new beginnings.

I hope you are excited as I am. We are in for a fun

filled year of discovery and learning for Joy!CDC.

I would like to take a moment and tell you

about the fundraisers that Joy!CDC is doing.

We sold Arrowhead West Arroma Candles from

9/8/15 to 9/22/15. We are also going to do the

Little Caesars Pizza from 10/12/15 to 10/26/15.

We feel that these are the best value out there! The

center receives a larger percentage of the money

raised from these than any others we have found.

The kids really enjoy selling and delivering the

pizzas to their friends and family. The pizza will

be delivered to the church on November 3rd

. Please

contact any child that attends Joy! or the Joy!

office at 227-6136 if you would like to order

pizzas. As always thank you for all of your support

and prayers! We couldn’t do it without you! We

also have more fundraisers to come!

The Joy! Center’s annual Halloween Parade will

be held in the morning on October 30

th. All the

children are able to bring their costumes to the

daycare and each class parades through the church

stopping at each classroom and the church office to

collect some goodies! This is one of the highlights

of the year for the children as they enjoy it so

much. It is such a joy to see all of them in costume,

even the babies! With all the talk around here

about “what to be” for Halloween, it reminds me

how lucky we are here at Joy! We are truly blessed

with the opportunity to have a part in who these

children WILL be in the future. The love and

encouragement they receive at such a young age

will follow them throughout the rest of their lives.

Our staff devotes so much energy and time to these

little ones every day. So as you open the door to

trick or treaters this Halloween, remember us here

at Joy! Please pray for us to continue to care for

and guide the children toward a bright future. With

the help of the church we have a part in helping

these children be not only who they want to be, but

who God wants them to be, also.

Peace and Joy!

UMW READING PROGRAM

Jesus, A Biography from a Believer

by Paul Johnson Jesus was a revolutionary. But he did not preach against the high priests or the Roman government. He taught the ordinary people, the poor and disabled. Jewish and Roman laws were restrictive and discriminatory. The wealthy carried out their religion very publicly, praying aloud on the street, and giving ostentatiously in the synagogue. Jesus’ example to the people was a private one, from the heart. When he prayed, he separated himself from the others, knelt and spoke to God silently. His compassion for the sick was demonstrated every day, even on the Sabbath. But when he healed the lame, blind and crippled, he usually admonished them to return home and tell no one. Instead of a message of uprising and war, Jesus’ story was one of fighting evil within the soul and raising the spirit to God. These were life lessons for living in harmony with all and with peace in your heart. Generosity should be boundless and benevolence, universal. Jesus loved everyone, regardless of nationality, race, religion, or disability. He proclaimed that, “God so loved the [whole] world that that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life.” Jesus came to save us all. Pat Kolb Spiritual Growth (large print 2014)

One Simple Act

by Debbie Macomber We can all discover the power of generosity. Here we have true stories about how to give the gifts of time,

encouragement, prayer, and laughter. The ideas are really quite simple and can have a great impact on both the recipient and the giver. The lessons about hospitality caught my eye. Years ago offering travelers a place to stay was expected and necessary. They had to depend on the generosity of strangers. In 1 Peter 4:9 we read, “Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling.” The author comments, “It is more than a nicety, it’s a biblical mandate.” When people were sheltered in your home it was your responsibility to feed them, protect them and care for whatever needs they might have. Nothing was said about dusting, vacuuming and cooking a gourmet meal served on fine china. If you don’t have time and energy for that, remember the one staying with you matters more than the dust. While reading this book you will realize that some things are more important than others and many things just don’t matter at all. This book was given in memory of Edna Boettger by Circle 3. Becoming A Disciple

A Short-Term Study

Discipleship. It’s not easy. Jesus

makes that clear when he set forth the

conditions: “If any want to become

my followers, let them deny

themselves and take up their cross and

follow me.”

And yet, weren’t all the disciples

different? Might discipleship—within

Christ’s directive—mean something

unique to each of us? In Becoming a

Disciple you’ll meet eight United

Methodist clergy and hear them

discuss the definition of discipleship

as they help us along to pursue the

adventure of a lifetime.

The study group will meet for one

(1) hour each week from early

October through mid November. The

cost of the reading material is $10.00.

Please return the coupon below to the

church office once you have identified

what day and time you will meet for

this study. Rev. Jerre Nolte will

facilitate this group.
