A from Helen September / October

The Gateway Harmonica Club is so pleased that the SPAH Convention will be held at the Sheraton Chalet in Westport next year. A delegation from St Louis made an excellent presentation in Tulsa and had so many positive comments about our group hosting the convention for the 7th time. This speaks well of the dedication of the members. We have already started some of the planning committees. If you would like to be involved please contact Bill Dulin or Jay Hotze. Our membership is increasing and we are so pleased to welcome our new members. They have become involved in our presentations at the various locations and events. If you are in need of a GHC shirt or vest please contact Jay Hotze as he does have a few available for purchase. We will start wearing our white shirt, red vest, black pants, and black shoes after Labor Day depending on the weather. If it remains hot we will continue with our white polo shirt, black pants, black shoes. Be sure to mark September 19th on your calendar as this is one GHC meeting you won’t want to miss. Thanks to Rich Krueger, Sandy Weltman, a well-known harmonica player, is going to make a 90 minute presentation to our group. The session will start promptly at 6 PM for 90 minutes. Please make sure you bring a diatonic harmonica. Various techniques will be demonstrated and taught by Sandy. Additional sessions will be conducted and announced on September 19th. Starting in September the group will be performing our new Gig Program. FYI we will start our Christmas music very soon as we already have quite a few bookings for November and Decem-ber.

Prayers to those who live in Texas. The devastation is so vast it is going to take a long time for them to recover. Bill Dulin has posted a very nice tribute to Geza Dombi on You Tube. Geza recently passed away and was a long-time member of our club. To view the presentation visit Geza’s Waltz.https://youtu.be/5TZIWwbuXDQ

Mike Maschek sent us some photos that he believes are from a 2008 picnic. I know that at least one is not that old as Pat appears in the photo and we didn’t join until 2012.

Please enjoy his contribution.
