1. Brief History and Background of the Establishment:

A BRIEF HISTORY OF BRUNDABAN SUBUDHI COLLEGE,DASPALLA

Brundaban subudhi College is located in the Head Quarter of Tahasil and NAC ,Daspalla in the District of Nayagarh in the state of Odisha is a premier institution and a Non-Govt. Aided Degree College. To the south of the College N.H-57 runs and to the north there green scenery of Natural beauty. It cater to the educational needs of rural and remote areas people constituting 60% of S.C and S.T and ranges to the need semi-urban and urban peoples. Daspalla is situated at distance of 130 K.M. from Bhubaneswar the state capital of odisha on N.H.-57.

During the pre-Independence era it was a garhjat (princely States) under the rule of the kings of Bhanja dlynasty. It touches to the boundary of 5 No of district of odisha. The area is dominated by tribes and rural poors- Geographycally it is located 20.3356 N latitude and 84.8490E longitude. Though educationally and economically poor, yet it has a glorious and tremendous rich heritage. The great and first odia story writer, Fakir Mohan Senapati served here as dewan; the utkal Ghanta(the bell of Utkal ) satire poet, Jadumani mahapatara spent his early and youth days here; the devotional poet Bhakta Charan das Made this soil proud; the great play wright and one of the great exponents of the Drama movement of odisha, Rama Chandra Mishra is a worthy son of the land; the great freedom fighter and born revolutionary, Govinda Mishra of the soil happens to be the first odia to reach Sabramati Ashram and earned a name and fame as the 5

son of Mahatma Gandhi. Even he is the real bridge in between National Congress and Odisha Congress. At the same time we find the rich cultural heritage throughout the length and breadth of the land. Danda Yatra, Kalashi Nrutya(pitcher dance) , Dwari Dance and Ramleela(Lankapidi Yatra) like folk dance and folklore are unique and strengthen our past and present. Especially the Ramleela of Daspalla is the oldest of odisha and 2

nd oldest of India. It is also the oldest open-air dance-drama of odisha spreading over a place of

about 1.5 kms. The 35 feet high and moving statue of ten headed Ravan and puspak viman displayed during the Rama leelas celebration has attracted the attention of Lima book of India Records. And to added to that Daspalla has been supplying the required timber year after year for the year famous Car Festival of god Jagannath,puri. In mythology too we fine that as per Epic Mahabharat lod Krishna had taken the incarnation Nabaagunjar( A conglomeration of nine animals) here. For all these, Daspalla is popularly Known as Mahaveer Kshetra. In history too. The last battle between English and Marahata took place here in 1803 after which the English conquered the whole of Odisha. During the war of India’s Independence, the Hilly tribes of Daspalla dared raise a revolt in the name of Kandha Agitation in 1914 . That attracated the attention of the then Governor-General of India. There, yes all these glorify the historical heroism. Though culturally rich, historically glorious and myth logically divine, yet the place was economically and educationally backward. For which some dedicated educationists, Social activists and wise learned enthusiastic people of the place decided to establish a college, so that the poor aspirants can find the education at their doorstep. On this auspicious occasion an NRI of the land Sj. Jagat Mohan Subudhi who served as a surgery

specialist in the U.S.A. donated hand sanely for the purpose. Thus the College took its birth in 1977 and got named after Brundaban Subudhi , the late father of the great donor the successors of the king of Daspalla allowed organization to run in the Rayal Palace of Daspalla . For this B.S.College spent its early days in such heritage place from 1977 to 1993. Later in the year 1994 it has been shifted to its new built campus with huge buildings, play ground and many more constructed in an area of 10 acres of own land in the lap of nature amidst green growth. Presently it is the only and ideal Degree college to build the career of hundreds and thousands of students to face the real challenges of life successfully and spectacularly. Now it has been the life stream and fond name amongst the rich and poor. Urban and rural innocent and wise folk of Daspalla. Presently we are in a fast changing world and environment. That’s why this institution is trying its best to impart the best utilizing the best available resources of the time. Though this college was born as an intermediate College in 1977, yet later it has developed and flourished in to a degree college in the year-1989. It is affiliated to Utkal University, Vani Vihar gt recognition by the Govt. of Odisha. Besides class room teachings the college undertakes to organize various co-curricular activities as well as Govt. and university sponsored programs in fulfilling its ideology and in the interest of the students. Since inception, the ideological and charecterial transformation of the students to a high standard has been the stage motto of the institution and it has achieved the same to a greater extent. Presently Brundaban Subudhi College is a full-fledged Non-Govt. Degree College with facility of all honours Teaching. It has also come under the fold of the Direct payment scheme of the Govt. of odisha since 1984 and the Govt. has been appointing Principals since 1992. The College has started receiving assistance froum UGC since-2013. On basis of fair conduct of Examination, Utkal University, is pleased to make this College as a University Valuation Zone , +2, EMH Centre, NIOS,DLED programme and many other.

The College aims at the all-round development of tudents by providing opportunities to achieve excellence through sportds and games. It also intends to foster a sense of social and civic responsibility through NSS, YRC, NCC and Rovers.

The college has achieved the unique distinction of being one of the foremost colleges of Odisha by maintaining commendable position in respect of teaching, learning and discipline. To add to its glory this college is going to invite NAAC TEEM FOR NAAC ACCREDITATION. For the overall development of the college the prodigious contribution of the enterprising Principal, members of the staff, the president and members of the Governing body need much acclaim.

the Principal for approval/ sanction after which being dispatched with number and date.
