How To use THe BLues LiCks eBook? In this unique Ebook you will find 30 Blues Licks, each with an audio example. We advise first to listen to the audio and then start playing.
Why is this Ebook unique? There are various books on the market which teach licks. The problem is that they only show the lick as a phrase. In this Ebook we show how to implement the licks in a full chorus of 12 bar Blues, while playing together with the left hand. After learning even just a few licks, you will be able to improvise all by yourself!
What is a Lick, and why is it important to learn Blues licks?A lick is musical phrase consisting of a short series of notes when improvising. Learning the licks will help you to learn the language of the Blues and how to improvise.
What scale are we using in this Ebook? In this Ebook, we use only the C blues scale to make it easier for you to learn the language of the blues. This will help you to notice the difference between the licks. At bars 5 and 9, the licks in this Ebook are transposed to F and G scales, which will assist you in future study of different Blues scales.

While improvising we can play the same musical phrase, beginning at a different place in the bar. The first time we play D# - E - G - on the first count of the bar, and the second time we play it between the second and the third count of the bar.

Lick #10 sounds like a question and an answer: The first bar is the question with higher notes, and in the second bar we go to the middle C range, which sounds like an answer.

In this lick we play two notes together descending chromatically. This sound is typical in last phrases in the Blues. We have changed the left hand at bar 11, which gives a great ending!
