Jatropha is an important plant for biodiesel production. BiovedResearch Institute of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences(BRIATS) has developed a new germ plasm ofvariety for maximum production of its seed and oil at its centreBioved Krishi Prodyogiki Gram, Sringvepur, Allahabad. This plantis grown at large scale for demonstration and further propagationthrough seed and vegetative methods. Theprocess of oil extraction through the seed ofJatropha is being standardized in a proper

and systematic manner for obtaining maximum profit from thecultivation of Jatropha. Many waste and barren lands in and aroundAllahabad district are being utilized for its cultivation. Bio-fencingof Jatropha plants are very helpful for protection of crops from NeelGaay

BRIATS has standardized the process of button mushroomfor promotion of scientific method of mushroom cultivationin the existing climatic situations of different districts of U.P.by preparing compost bag with the help of available rawmaterials of wheat straw and rice bran and other available

materials. It has also standardized the process of mushroom cultivation. Developedtechnologies on this aspect are being demonstrated at BKPG, Moharab, Sringverpur Centreof BRIATS for the adoption of interested farmers and vegetable growers.

BRIATS has standardized the scientificmethod of honey bee keeping and developedprocessing plants of produced honey forcommercial use. For this purpose 150 beekeeping boxes are prepared and distributed at50 different places nearby Allahabad Districtfor demonstration and production of honey,keeping in view the suitable environment forhoney production.

Felicitation and Certificate Distribution to BeneficiariesA felicitation programme was organized on 04.10.2015 at Bioved Krishi Prodyogiki Gram, Moharab,Sringverpur, Allahabad for 37 beneficiaries from Mirzapur and Jharkhand at the end of ten days trainingprogramme from 25th September, 2015 to 4th October, 2015 on Lac cultivation and its value addition. Dr.B.K. Dwivedi, Director, BRIATS distributed certificates to all the beneficiaries for their successfulcompletion of training programme and shared with their views regarding lac cultivation and its valueaddition. 5 Bhatti, Button lac, colour decorative items and base materials were distributed among the trainedbeneficiaries for starting the work at their places.
