Message from Father Pergjini: June 8, 2018 Invoca on Dear Parents and Friends, Mrs. Stefanini, Our Principal, Assistant principal Ms. Linda Minneci, Mrs. McGrath, Mrs. Janine Aponte and all the teachers of our School of Saint Lucy, and of course, our new Graduates: Gree ngs, Congratula ons, and Welcome to all. What a wonderful day, what a happy day for the Class of 2018! Here we are, gathered to celebrate your achievements of 8 years. 8 long years! You've made it, survived your first great passage in the educa onal world. Your first school, Saint Lucy's. The first chapter of your life away from home, to build up a strong founda on for this life and for our ul mate journey someday, to the next life in our Heavenly Home.

There are so many moments, sad moments, embarrassing moments, funny moments, beau ful moments, you can recall with your loyal parents and dedicated teachers over these long eight years. And yet, as we look back today, these eight years seem to pass like a flash at the dawn of the day.

Remember when you arrived here for the first me? Your teachers followed you step by step. Some steps were easier than others. You moved your teachers, and you angered them at mes, and then you pleased them. You effected them in a hundred other ways as they watched you growing up from ny shaky tots to beau ful young adults. They nourished you with food for your mind and your soul. They gave their me, their talents, and their love to you. And now it is me for you to thank them and move on, to face a different reality, a world outside, to face different and unexpected demands, and stand up to challenges, and trials of the future, with the same trust in God, the same desire to pursue His Divine Will, and the same strength of heart and purpose that you have developed over the years here at our school. What gradua on means, is that now, your teachers believe that you are ready to go, to be strong, be gentle, be successful in bringing God's love to our hungry world. Yes, life is a beau ful gi , to be lived fully and enjoyed, but it is even more beau ful to know who Jesus Christ is for you in your life, and what are the demands that Christ asks for every one of us as you leave our school, and your early exposure in life to this deep and wonderful message. What you did here, your morning prayers, your grace before meals, your religion class, the many Masses with Holy Communion, your sacrament of penance a few mes during the year, were done not because they are rules or rites of the Catholic school that o en seem to be dry and empty without our heart being there. No. These religious prac ces were done for you, and with you, to take spiritual advantage of them, to know Jesus Christ be er and have Him as your inspira on, your spiritual guidance counselor, and protector for your whole life.

What a blessing is to be faithful to Our Dear Lord at your young age, to be faithful to what you learned here at our beau ful Catholic School. My wish for you is that one day you will speak with great love and joy to your own children as you were taught here, about the story of Jesus, and what His life means. In me to come, some of you may become priests, or brothers, or Religious sisters, God willing. What a blessing to your family and to our parish this would be. If you feel the call to love our Dear Lord, and to serve his people, I hope you will go willingly and joyfully. Maybe someday you too will have the privilege of speaking to a gradua ng class, to look into their bright young faces, faces looking out to the world with joy and expecta on, to congratulate them on the great effort of eight long years of hard work, in star ng out their lives, and to bless them for the great journey ahead.

To you the parents, I thank you. To you the teachers, I congratulate you. To you the principal, I salute you. To you the students and graduates, I love you. And I send you on your way with the Blessing of Almighty God, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, to love and protect you, and to remain in your hearts, all the days of your life. Thank you, and farewell.

Tus profesores te siguieron paso a paso.
