I-85 Widening Project LocationTwo phases in Gwinnett, Barrow, and Jackson Counties

• I-985 to SR 211 - 12.7 miles (PI 116010)

• SR 211 to US 129 - 10.4 miles (PI 0013545 - FY 25 Funding)

Widen I-85 to the inside north of I-985

Expand from two lanes to three lanes in each direction

Install median barrier and 9-ft to 12-ft inside shoulders for section between Hamilton Mill Road/CR 134 and SR 211

Convert 14-foot striped buffer between general purpose and managed lane north of I-985 to south of Hamilton Mill Road / CR 134 to a general purpose lane in both directions

No right of way acquisition

Replace I-85 mainline and overpass bridges within project limits

SRTA partnership for multi-year contracting

Estimated project cost: $135 Million

Estimated open to traffic: 2020
