Child asks "why" all the time to understand the rules of this world.
Not just to know what to do and not to.
Sometimes someone with authority uses
"Because I said so"
as an answer.
"Because I said so"
most of the time is wrong
"Because I said so"
some of the time is many generations old
Imagine this process would happen in science
To use such reasoning for your actions is illogical, risky and it invites failure.
"Because I said so" transforms into Conventional wisdom.
Conventional wisdom is always outdated
The only way to make progress is to use logics and independent thinking, and to base it on observations
That's what science does
Scientific approach p.1
• Make observations• Formulate a hypothesis• Design an experiment to test the hypothesis• State the indicators to evaluate if the
experiment has succeeded• Conduct the experiment• Evaluate the results of the experiment
Scientific approach p.2
• Accept or reject the hypothesis• If necessary, make and test a new hypothesis
We can use scientific approach to our business and life
HADI cycle aka
that thing that scientists do
HADI cycle
• Hypothesis– Pick a KPI– Make an assumption
• Action– Make an experiment
• Data• Insight
Repeat all the time
Strong Hypothesis
• Testable• Precise• Could be learned from no matter what results
you get
HADI cycle is a heart of Lean Startup
1. Eliminate uncertainty
2. Work smarter not harder
Should this product be build?
Can this product be build?
Can we build a sustainable business around this set of products and services?
3. Develop an MVP (minimum viable product)
4. Validated learning
Thank you!
