Dungeon system

Treasure SearchInside the dungeon, the leader of the party is able to use this ability. The character will emit a purple sonar thatreaches through a certain radius per use. When the sonar hits a hidden treasure, it becomes visible and availablefor pickup. The ability has no recharge time, allowing you to use it indefinitely.

There is only one hidden treasure per section of a dungeon, but they will respawn if you leaves the dungeon.

The icon representing the hidden treasure is hidden in a map unless it's made visible by the ability or by havingLaplace's Eye.

EnemiesInstances of enemies are present within a dungeon. By attacking an enemy, having it walk through the leadercharacter, or attacking it, a battle will engage.

Symbol AttackYou can take the initiative by attacking an enemy instance before the leader character and enemy comes incontact with each other, which will start a battle. With a Symbol Attack, your turn comes up first in the battle.

Enemy AdvantageIf an enemy instance comes in contact with the leader from behind, the enemy(s) will gain advantage and have itsturn(s) first.

Objects and InstancesThere are other objects and instances that you can interact with in a dungeon.

Save Point The player can save in a save point and continue Fon from the point when the file is loaded.Gathering Point You can gather Materials from Gathering Points, symbolized by a green question mark.Common Items Common Items contain items that you can use. It can range from any type of items.Common Items don't respawn once they're gathered.Warp Point Lets you warp to different areas.Next/Previous Access the next/previous section of the dungeon.Dungeon Exit The only way to exit a dungeon is through a Dungeon Exit.

Battle systemThe battle system in Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1 is turnbased by unit, where each character's turn comesbased on their speed. Characters roam around the established battlefield within their movement range. Playerscan choose for the characters to either attack, guard, or use skills. Depending on what option is chosen, the rangeof an attack or skill's effect will depend on the skill or the equipment the character has.

Lily SystemThe Lily System allows partners to gain bonus passive abilities or Linked Attacks. The higher the Lily Rankbetween partners, the more bonuses you can get for each character.

Area of EffectThe Area of Effect (AoE) element is present in the game. Combo attacks have an area measured in square grids.Certain Skills have a longer area range or have an AoE effect measured in a circle with the targeted enemy as thecenter point. Any character or enemy present within the AoE may be subjected to the attack. This also pertains tocertain Skills.

Attacks and SkillsThere are two types of attacks that can be performed in battle. Some Attacks and Skills can be acquired byleveling a character up, seeing certain events, or partnering up a character with a certain character.

CombosCombos are consecutive attacks. The 1st Attack will always be fixed, which is dependent on the character'sweapon. The 2nd to 4th Attack can be customized according to your preferences. If an Attack is left blank for aslot, you must either end the turn or press a button in which an attack is assigned at. If there are no Attacks setfor a character, the character will only perform their initial attack.

Combos can be created by setting up Attacks for 3 types of attacks:

Attack Type DescriptionRush An attack focused on the number of hits. This type of attack increases the EXE Drive Gauge the fastest.Power An attack focused on raw damage.Break An attack focused on lowering the foe's GP.

EX Finishers

Page 5: Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1 FAQ_Walkthrough for PlayStation Vita by NaturalPersona - GameFAQs

3/2/2015 Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1 FAQ/Walkthrough for PlayStation Vita by NaturalPersona GameFAQs

http://www.gamefaqs.com/vita/708361hyperdimensionneptuniarebirth1/faqs/70351 5/26

You can choose to finish an attack chain with a certain EX Finisher if the EXE Drive Gauge is filled to a certainlevel. Once an EX Finisher is used, the character's turn will end. An exception is the Combo Link, which can beused once to create another attack chain starting from the 1st Attack.

EXE Drive SkillsOnce per turn, you can expend the EXE Drive Gauge and unleash an EXE Drive Skill, a Coupling Skill, or aFormation Skill.

SP SkillsSP Skills are unique commands a character has that expend SP. They can either be debuffs, stat enhancements, attacks with an effect radius (AoE), or a very powerful move. Once the executed Skill is performed, thecharacter's turn automatically ends, regardless of the SP the character has left.

Linked AttackLinked Attacks are types of attacks made between coupled characters. They're influenced by the Lily Ranksbetween characters.

Coupling Skill A Linked Attack with the characters in the front row and back row. Damage output and theability to unleash a Coupling Skill depends on the Lily Rank between the front row character and the backrow character.Formation SKill A Linked Attack performed by characters that are active in battle. This requires thecharacters to be in the same form.

Battle commandsDuring a character's turn, you can command the character to do various types of moves.

Command DescriptionSP Skill Characters specific skills that require SP to use.EXE Drive EXE Drive Skills are far more powerful than ordinary Skills.

Attack Your character can perform regular attacks and combos by closing in on an enemy unit and pressing the X button. Acharacter's turn ends if the combo ends.

Defend Take less damage from enemies.HDDOn/Off Activates/deactivates HDD form for a CPU.

Switch Switches the front row character with the back row character.Item Use an item.Flee Escape from battle if possible. Only works if the character is in the outskirts of the battlefield.

ElementsThere are four elements. The affinity for an element affects the damage output of an elemental attack andelemental resistance a character/enemy has against elemental attacks. The higher percentage of affinity acharacter/enemy has for an element, the higher the damage output and resistance a character/enemy have forthat particular element.

The elements are: Fice, Ice, Wind, and Thunder

GuardbreakGuard Break allows you to deal more damage to an enemy if its guard guage (GP) is depleted. Aside from HP,dealing damage to enemies will also decrease their GP. If the GP is completely depleted, the enemy will enter intoa Guardbreak status, increasing the damage output and leaving the enemy vulnerable to all attacks. The guardgauge recovers gradually when the enemy takes action, and Guardbreak will be removed once the gauge refills.

Hard Drive DivinityA CPU can transform to HDD form if the character has at least 20% of the total SP to expend. The character canremain in HDD form for an indefinite time without expending on extra SP in order to maintain the form. If the CPUis inflicted with the Virus status ailment or hits 0 HP, the character will revert back to human form. Some abilitiesin the game state that they reduce SP drain after performing HDD. HDD no longer causes SP drain in this game. The ability actually causes skills to cost less SP after HDD has been used.

MovementArea movementThe movable area of a character in a single turn is measured in a circle with the character acting as the centerpoint. Mobility is determined by the character's MOV stat and may move a certain distance within the radius in asingle turn.

EscapeIf a character is near the boundary of the playable area, you have an option to escape the battle. The chance ofescape is determined by the character's AGI and LUK stat. Scripted encounters, including boss battles, areinescapable.

Passive abilitiesThere are two types of passive abilities.

AbilitiesEach character has a set of passive abilities that they gain as they level up. They are always active during abattle.

Support effectsIn addition to Abilities, each character has two support effects. When a character is partnered with another, theirsupport effects take effect for each other in battle. Support effects only work if the Lily Rank is high enough.

StatsYou can increase/decrease a character's stats by either leveling up and changing the character's certainequipment. The descriptions are directly taken from the manual.

Stat DescriptionHit Points(HP) Hit Points, or health. If this falls to zero, the character will be incapacitated.

Skill Points(SP)

Skill Points. You spend these points when using a Skill or transforming into HDD forms. You can gain these points byattacking or being attacked.

Strength(STR) Effects physical attacks.

Vitality (VIT) Effects physical defenseIntelligence(INT) Effects magic attacks.

Mentality(MEN) Effects magic defense.

Agility (AGI) Effects speed, evasion, and escape probability.Technique(TEC) Effects attack accuracy.

Luck (LUK) Effects critical hit rate as well as accuracy and evasion.Movement(MOV) Effects the character's movement radius.

Status ailments

Page 7: Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1 FAQ_Walkthrough for PlayStation Vita by NaturalPersona - GameFAQs

3/2/2015 Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1 FAQ/Walkthrough for PlayStation Vita by NaturalPersona GameFAQs

There are five status effects: Poison, Paralysis, Skillseal, Virus, and Heal. Each ailment can last up to eightturns. The probability of it fading away increases with each passing turn. If you end a battle with any of theseailments, they will automatically disappear.

Ailment EffectPoison Character loses 1/16th of maximum HP per turn.ParalysisCharacter's turn is automatically skipped.Skillseal Character doesn't have access to SP Skills.

Virus Hard Drive Divinity (HDD) is sealed. Only enemies can inflict this ailment. Any character can be afflicted, but only CPU andCPU Candidates experience the effect. Character is reverted to human form if already in HDD form.

Heal Character gains 1/6th of maximum HP per turn. This ailment invariably lasts for 8 turns.

Turn orderTurn order is determined by the character's Agility (AGI) skill. Sometimes, a character/enemy might have multipleconsecutive turns and/or might be the character's turn again should the player end the current turn, displayed bythe action order interface (displayed on the upper right of a battle screen with a character's or enemy's icon). Theturn order is subject to change depending on the action taken. Attacking with a full combo will push the characterfarther down the list. However, one can stop combos in between in order to keep the order the same. Guarding andusing items will most often keep the list the same and sometimes give consecutive turns. Note that the EXFinisher, Combo Link, lets one use their combo again, but this will cause the character to be pushed further backin the order.

Remake SystemThe Remake System is a feature where you can use Plans which adds items, enemies, new game systems, andmore. Plans can be found in enemies, dungeons, and NPCs. There are four types of plans:

System Affects the game. Lets you add and modify the system of the game.Dungeon Lets you change items and add enemies in a dungeon.Item Dev. Lets you add items in a shop.

The amount of plans you can develop are limited by the amount of space you have, which is measured in MB.You can gain more MB by progressing through the game and talking to certain NPCs. If you have used up all theMB and already gained all the possible MB in a walkthrough, you can gain more through New Game +. Basically,MB is unlimited if you keep doing New Game +. Note that the maximum space is capped to 9999 MB.

Disc DevelopmentDisc Development allows you to take Blank Discs and install passive effects and/or stats on them. By equipping amodified Disc, the character will gain the disc's effects. Examples include: EXE Level Up, Lily Rank Up, andPhysical Defense Up.

To modify a Blank Disc, you need Idea Chips. Idea Chips are the ones that give the Disc effects and can begathered through many ways such as treasures, monsters, and quests.

The only way for you to gain Blank Discs is by collecting Large Medals and presenting them to a certain NPC.

SharesShare is a term describing the amount of influence a CPU and her formed nation has over a place. The amount ofshare is influenced by the amount of faith and belief people has over a CPU.

Gameplay wise, Share has an effect on two things: the Endings|endings and Plans.

Hints and tipsThese are some hints and tips from yours truly. You don't have to follow this, but I recommend you to do so. I willalso leave some tips as you go through the walkthrough. Note that I may repeat some of what I mention here aswell.

For every dungeon you unlock, increase your characters' levels by at least 510 levels before finishing thedungeon. I can tell you that the minimum level you will need before the final boss will be at least 7580 or atleast 70 if you have the Weaken Enemies plan on. Remember that you can always exit the dungeon andenter again if you need to refill your HPs and SPs.Never sell your materials. You may never know which ones you'll need to develop in your plans.Talk to all of the NPCs you find in the Chirper and the world map. Some give out plans and items. SomeNPCs are limited by chapter. If you gain a plan for a dungeon, unlock it as soon as you have MB for it. Plans for a specific dungeonsuch as Add Enemies, Add Super Enemies, and Item Change can only be unlocked by talking to NPCs inthe Chirper. Again, these NPCs are limited by chapters AND will only appear if you unlocked the dungeon. If you're having a hard time with enemies, unlock the Weaken Enemies plan as soon as you get it. This willweaken enemies within a significant level. This will NOT affect experience, credits, and items you get fromenemies.Finish all the quests. Your shares may get out of proportion, but the rewards are great. Plus, it'll add somespice in your gameplay. Just note that quests are optional. You do not have to finish any quests toadvance through the story.

Walkthrough

Chapter 1

Histoire's CallingIt will be pretty straight forward with all the talking. You won't really have to fight yet, but after the cutscene, therewill be more talking. Prepare for a fanservice CG. After that, you'll be taken to the world map. After familiarizingyourself with the world map, head to Planeptune for a cutscene.

Tips: You can use the directional buttons to navigate in a list rather than manually scrolling with the left stick.Make sure to talk to the NPCs in the Chirper. They may have plans and items that you may find useful.

Also, note that you shouldn't blindly proceed on a place on the world map if it's mark with the Event icon.Sometimes, this will immediately trigger an event cutscene that advances the story.

PlaneptuneVirtua Forest is now unlocked. This is the first dungeon you'll get to explore.

Life Fragment

After the cutscene, ahead of you is a shining crystal glowing in purple light. This is a Sharicite, and getting near itwill trigger a cutscene.

Tip: Like Events, you shouldn't blindly proceed to a Sharicite. They may trigger an event that will advance thestory. You may never know if that event will trigger a boss fight that you cannot handle without preparations.

Head to the Sharicite, and you'll trigger your first battle!

Enemies: Dogoo x3

This is your first battle, and it's fairly easy. Just watch your health. Should your health go low, use Compa'sskill to heal.

My First VictoryAfter the fight, a short cutscene will play. Then, you'll be able to roam freely in the dungeon again. Head straight, and nearby on the left side is a green square with a yellow question mark. These are gathering points. Interactingwith these will give you materials and sometimes Idea Chips. They're scattered around the dungeon and willrespawn if you leave the dungeon.

Going straight ahead then to the east, you'll see a rotating blue cube. This is a treasure. There are some scatteredaround the dungeon, and they will contain items and plans. They will not respawn after collecting them. The firstone you'll find in this dungeon will contain Healing Grass. Head through the bridge, and go north. Ahead is anothertreasure (Healing Grass and Plan: Life Fragment). Head back south to where the bridge is. Inspect the treasurefor Free Scenario and Plan: Healing Pod.

If you have been following my tip and kept pressing the square button as you explore the dungeon, you mighthave came across a rotating pink and yellow cube. This is a hidden treasure that is hidden in a section of adungeon. There's one per section of a dungeon. They will respawn if you leave the dungeon.

Ahead is a Save Point, which is the only place where you'll be able to save in a dungeon. Make sure to savebefore proceeding forward. Go slightly south and turn to the east. Near the arch is a treasure (Life Fragment). Now head all the way to the south where a Sharicite is located. Interact with it to trigger a cutscene. There will beanother CG and another scripted battle.

Enemy: Guard Vermin

Technically the first boss you've encountered in this game. Watch your health, and heal if necessary. SpreadCompa and Neptune out to avoid AoE damage.

After the battle, more cutscenes will occur, and you'll be back on the world map.

My Turn To Follow CompaThe Guild is now unlocked. Go to the Guild for a cutscene.

The GuildThe Guild is a place where you can accept quests and turn them in. They reward you with items andincrease/decrease shares of nations.

While you're in the Guild, accept the quest "The law of the hero". You don't have to do the quest though. This will

unlock the dungeon Monster Cave. Head to the dungeon to trigger a cutscene and explore the dungeon.

Head north, then turn west. Trigger the Sharicite up ahead to trigger a cutscene. You will see another CG.Subsequently, a monster appears! Worry not because Neptune will go in HDD form, and IF will join your party.

Enemy: Guard Vermin

This monster will be on a fair level but should be manageable. Spread your characters out. Put Neptune andIF in either sides, and put Compa in between so she can heal herself and the others if necessary.

Troubles AboundAfter defeating the boss, you can roam the dungeon again. In the intersection, go south, east, then northeastwhere the exit is near and the Super Otaku is. There is a treasure (AGI Booster and Healing Pod). You can goback from where you came from or drop below the small cliff. In the intersection, head north this time. Up aheadwill be a short cutscene.

Cross the bridge then head west. There's a treasure (SP Charger and Hunting Sword) nearby. Keep going ahead.Near the large blue crystals ahead to the west is another treasure (Big Online). There is a Save Point and anotherSharicite up ahead. A battle will ensue.

Enemy: Clyde x2, Ms. Clyde, Super Otaku

Nothing special about this battle. If you can handle the ones in the dungeon, you can handle this one as well.

Immediately, you'll get into a cutscene. Then comes another battle.

Enemy: ?????

There are battles where you're meant to lose because it's scripted. So do yourself a favor and save yourenergy items. Just lose. You'll be able to get your revenge anyways.

Luckily, a miracle happens. Neptune transforms into HDD form. Now you can get revenge in a rematch.

Enemy: ?????

Now you can actually beat her up. She's not that hard, so you shouldn't have a problem with this one. Hit herwith all you got.

After getting your revenge, a cutscene ensues. Then you'll be back into the world map.

The Key Fragment

Head to Planeptune for a cutscene.

The Game StorylineAfter the cutscene, go to Planeptune's Information and talk to Wandering Girl.

LastationOne cutscene later... You can now go to Lastation! Go to Information and talk to Adventurer.

FalcomAfter talking to Falcom, head to Information again and select Lastation Basilicom.

Black HeartPutting the Lastation Basilicom's unlwelcoming welcome aside, head back to Lastation again. More talking andcutscenes are coming your way.

Head north until you see a Warp Point, a pink rotating diamond. Turn east to the bridge, then go south at the end. There is a treasure (STR Booster and Paralaxin) nearby. Go north until you see a treasure (Pink Pigment andKiller Aim). Watch out for the Ancient Dragon though.

Tip: Monsters like Ancient Dragons are considered dangerous monsters. You can tell from the map if anenemy is a dangerous monster if their marker on the map is an orange circle with an arc. They're usually 2.5xharder than the rest of the monsters within the dungeon, so watch out for them. They're easy to avoidbecause unlike other enemies in the dungeon, they're "blind", meaning that they don't have a field of vision. They won't chase you if they see you.

If you're feeling confident about your level though, you can give it a try to defeat them.

Head west to the bridge. Up ahead is another treasure (Healing Grass and INT Booster). Head further north. There is a Save Point, a Warp Point, and a Sharicite. Use the Warp Point to go to a different area. There is atreasure (Life Fragment and Free Scenario). Use the Warp Point to go back. Before proceeding to the Sharicite, Isuggest you save now. Just do it!

Done? Now head to the Sharicite for a cutscene. Then... a monster appears!

Enemy: Hraesvelgr

Try to defeat this one fast without losing too much HP and SP because there will be another battle up next.Think of this battle as a warmup.

More cutscenes, then a CPU appears!

Enemy: Black Heart

Have you been leveling up at least 510 times per dungeon like I've suggested? I hope so because this battleis a wakeup call. She's going to be the first boss I would consider hard when playing this game for the firsttime. Your level should be at least 20 for each character for you to last this battle.

After the battle, you get more cutscenes and another CG.

Meeting With NoireHead to Lastation for an event. During the cutscene, Noire joins your party! Too bad she can't access HDD formbecause she's laying low. On the other hand, Chian wants you to test out her weapon while you go snoopingaround. You'll receive the weapon Armas Test Model, a weapon for Neptune. I suggest you equip it because it's anice weapon from where you're standing in the game right now.

Lastation In A MuckGo to Lastation's information and talk to Noire for an event.

The Avenir DuoNow that you're working for Avenir, Singe and Ganache has requested for you to clear out the monsters in TheladSanctuary, so that's where you're heading next.

Tip: If you have an Eject Button, you can use it to exit the dungeon from anywhere and anytime.

This will be a fairly hard fight. Don't worry because your characters' HPs and SPs are refilled. It's a largeenemy, so spread out to avoid AoE damage. Thin its health. No need to thin out its GP since you would'veprobably dealt enough damage by the time you get its GP to 0.

her. Once you're satisfied with your team setup, the battle begins!

As soon as you think you're done dealing with Avenir, there's more! And of course... Arfoire is behind it all.

It's another cheatlevel boss. Just let it win.

Then again... there's always that person that comes out of nowhere and saves the day. In your case,MarvelousAQL. After showing off her skills, she joins your party. Readjust your team if necessary.

Enemy: CPU Breaker

It's still hard but not as hard when it was like cheatlevel strong. Debuff it, break its guard, then hit it withPower Hits, SP skill attacks, and/or EXE Drive skills. An advanced tip for you is to have two of yourcharacters next before your current character before actually breaking the enemy's guard to 0. It's becausethe enemy's GP refills slightly once it's its turn when you thinned it (GP) down to 0.

With that out of the way, you've saved the Expo.

You'll be forced into another battle.

Enemies: CPU Killer, Arfoire

Let them overwhelm you. It's another battle you're meant to lose.

After the cutscene, you're forced into another battle.

Enemy: Overlord Momus

If you have noticed, Neptune lost her powers. So if you have her in your party... no HDD for Neptune. Shecan still access SP skills and EXE Drive skills though.

Do I have to give you another strategy to beat this boss after all that I've mentioned in previous boss battlesyou had before? I mean, they're all the same...

1. Large enemy = larger AoE. Spread out.

2. Debuff enemy. Buff your characters if you want, though you don't really need to.

3. This one has a lot of health. Break its guard first, then hit it with all you got. Power Hits, SP skills, EXEDrive skills, whatever powerful stuff you have.

4. Watch your health and heal if necessary.

After that, you get to see an event and a CG.
