Safety of the target is increaed by
- Modifications; stamped pressure vessel, 150-psi one-time-event boundary,… - New code and standard requirements; seismic, …- QA; more formality, reviews, engineering study of the design
- BUT all this requires time, money and effort

THE hydrogen design and safety review - this is the 3rd review at SNS
- Later we need to have a cryogenic review and then - IRR in September 2011
Training:
We propose on-job-training for-Junior Target Specialist-Senior Target Specialist
Target operation:
We propose, in principle, the same type of target operation as we had at LANSCE:
-When the target is running with hydrogen a Junior target operator has to be in shift personnel and a Senior Target Specialist has to be possible to contact by phone
- When the target is being filled - Senior Target Specialist has to be present
We need especially more Junior Target Specialists
