l Manufacture Background

HY5-AD5.6 is the first down-wind centrifugal force controlled passive variable pitch wind turbine

system designed and manufactured by Huaying Wind Power company that follows BWEA

standard. It meets IEC61400-2 (ClassⅡ) design requirements for small wind turbine and

obtained MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme) Certification in Oct 2012. HY5-AD5.6 is

one of the variable pitch wind turbine series supplied by Huaying together with 2kW, 10kW,

20kW and 30kW. Product quality has been well controlled by following ISO9001 standard. Ever

since accessed to the international market in 2008, it has performed excellently with good

power generating, durability, safety, quick installation, easy maintenance, compact structure

and streamline appearance.

Blade angle is positive 15 degree as factory setting at which the turbine is easy to start spinning. After the turbine getting running ,the angle of blades turns to 0 degree quickly, and the blade acts at its most efficient point (one spring acts). It outputs 5kW electrical power at 11m/s wind speed with 240 rpm rotor rotation speed. If the wind speed increases,the blade is forced to turn towards negative angle by centrifugal hammers to limit rotation speed (two springs act). The springs balance the blades angle and rotation speed while regulating power generating.

l FAQ Ø How does down-wind turbine act for catching wind? What ’s the superiority

comparing to up-wind ones? Both can catch wind. The difference is that the up-wind turbines take advantage of its tai lvane for getting wind pressure to make itself catch wind while the down-wind ones get the yawing moment from wind force which effects on both the blades and turbine housing.

Ø What ’s the rotor rotating direction of down-wind turbines? The rotor rotates clockwise if you look down wind. The wind kicks the tower f irst before kicking the blades.

Ø What ’s the superiority of variable pitch wind turbines comparing to fixed pitch ones? Safty. The variable pitch wind turbines regulate rotation speed by changing the pitch angle of blades. As we know, power comes from wind at the very beginning and then transmitted to mechanical energy by blades then electrical energy by generator. Wind power is l imited direct ly by blades if wind speed is over rated to keep the turbine itself running safely.Mechanical components and electrical system bear less load and act more stably.

Ø What ’s the function of the three hammers on the HY5-AD5.6 wind turbine? While rotation speed increasing, centrifugal force that produced by these hammers drives the blades to change their pitch angles synchronously through the crank mechanism inside the hub.

Ø How the brake system works of the HY5-AD5.6 wind turbine? Manual brake and auto brake systems are avai lable for choice.Leave the turbine running unless the wind speed reaches to 25m/s. The turbine wil l be stopped by forcing the blades to turn to negative pitch angle,and then electrical braking.

Ø What ’s the procedure of install ing the HY5-AD5.6 wind turbine? Very quick.For the turbine itself, you only have to put the three blades and hammers on, then f ix the brake mechanism.

Ø Is it complicated to operate and maintain the HY5-AD5.6 wind turbine? Leave the turbine running unless you need to brake. Change the wearing parts such as pitch springs and carbon brushes every two years and lubricating. We offer one set of wearing parts for free.
