    Socialization is the process by which peoplebecome familiar with and adapt themselves to theinterpersonal relationships of their social world.

    Through socialization, people develop ideas aboutthemselves and about those with whom theyinteract.

    Socialization is a two-way process that affectseveryone to a greater or lesser degree. It takes placethroughout ones life, but it is during the early

    years that the most crucial phases occur.

    During socialization, we learn the language of theculture we are born into as well as the roles we areto play in life

    they learn about the occupational roles that theirsociety has in store for them.

    We also learn and usually adopt our culture's

    norms through the socialization process.Socialization is important in the process ofpersonality formation.

    While much of human personality is the result ofour genes, the socialization process can mold it inparticular directions by encouraging specificbeliefs and attitudes as well as selectively

    providing experiences.Successful socialization can result in uniformitywithin a society. If all children receive the samesocialization, it is likely that they will share the
