Reno Huskie Families,

February was a relatively short month but a very busy one. We, like

every school in the nation, have been dealing with the concerns and

fears from the Florida school tragedy. Online rumors and

community concerns have been rampant but schools continue to work

very closely with school police and local agencies to investigate all

potential threats when they occur. I created a safety video that

our student body watched last week reviewing our safety

procedures. We will continue to analyze and review safety

procedures for our school. RHS had a safety audit conducted last

year that helped us modify some of those procedures. We were also

rekeyed earlier this year and all classroom doors have updated locks

which is a huge improvement as well. As we explained to our

students and staff: be vigilant, report information immediately and

take the safety drills very serious when we practice them. We

appreciate our community and family support and we will continue to

dedicate ourselves to the safety and security of our school. I will

be speaking on this topic at our next Booster Club meeting on 3/12

at 7pm in our Library.

Vocal Motion News From Mr. Gaunt

Vocal Motion participated at this year’s Solo & Ensemble festival held at Depoali Middle School last week. This is a district-wide event (state-wide, actually, but they divide it into two zones, Northern & Southern) that all MS & HS students enrolled in music classes can participate in. Students are then rated on a 5 point scale (1 being the best, 5 the worst) in the categories of sound quality, accuracy, technique, interpretation, and level of difficulty. A perfect

score would be a 5 - Vocal Motion received a 7 for an aggregate level 1 (superior) rating. They received medals for their performance and are eligible for a chance to compete at the state-wide Command Performance level. It’s not

the same as medaling in the Olympics, as multiple groups can receive 1s, but it’s a pretty impressive feat in our program!!!

Girls Varsity Basketball Wins Northern Regional Championship! Congrats ladies.

Speech and Debate wins Grand Sweeps Bowl Championship for 23rd straight year!!!

Mock Trial Wins Regionals and earns a 4th place at state also! For more shout-outs from our winter sports and activities, follow Mr. Hackbusch on Twitter!
