Page 2: Hurricane

The Video is slit up into different parts each one showing a different story

Page 3: Hurricane

All three band members are scattered across new York. Shannon driving, another on the subway and Jared sleeping in a room. The video is set at night time and there is no one else shown in the video at the moment.

Page 4: Hurricane

In this music video two songs are used the beginning one is called Escape this then leads into Hurricane. The music picks up when a masked man with a sledge hammer. He then chases Jared to the door while Jared jumps of the window. Special Effects are used to slow down with the music and create an impact when he jumps out of the window and lands.

Page 5: Hurricane

The editing becomes very fast at this point we have clips of Jared with a women, then to another part were a women is latex is being held by a different masked man. This completely breaks up the three different stories in mixing them up. Bondage and sexual content is heavy during this video which became a key element to the whole thing.

Clips cutting from a fight scene to a slow paced scene, shows a contrast in different stories. The visuals and music don’t go together all the time in shots of hurricane

Page 7: Hurricane

It then focuses on this band member receiving a key from the women, then completely cuts to him playing the violin then back to him on the street. The ways the video has been made is to make it episodic.

Chapter two – Life

It now changes over to Shannon on the bike. He crashes his bike while trying not to run over a women laying in the road. Again slow motion is used to how the change in scene and chapter. The song is cut about during the video where diegetic sounds are only used.

Page 9: Hurricane

After crashing his bike Shannon is stabbed by the women, sound effects have been added onto the track of the stabbing. All the women so far are being portrayed in a dark manner, dressed in leather land latex. All of them have given keys to the band members so far. Right now two of the following three have somehow saved the life of the women, however Shannon doesn’t seem better off by it.

When is changes scenes and setting the video is very dream like and surreal. All the focus is on the three using close ups and mid shots to establish the band. Women are a key element but their faces aren’t shown properly as the focus is not on who they are but what they represent.

The censer issue was a very high profile thingWhen it came out. Bringing in more attention to the release of the song and video. The only time we have lyrics and music together are in these scenes with Jared and the women. All the rest have no singing shots.

Near 7 minutes mark of the video it breaks up even more away from visuals and music using dialogue when the song stops however to make it more interesting and mysterious it is spoken in French, this could have been done because of the French burlesque girls shown.

Intertextual Reference is used here with the bands logo added in. This promotes the bands within itself.

Chapter three is the last part of video.

The shots begin to become more and more, each one is random to the next adding a feel of Quentin tarantino style to the structure of the video.

At the end of the video it suggests what the video was all about stated Dreaming dream things that no mere mortal would dream before.”Like what we see is what other hidden passion are, an insight of some people fantasy's and life.

It then says at the end that is was written and directed by Bartholomew Cubbins which is actually a character from Dr. Suess. In actual fact Jared Leto is the master mind behind it all but states using a different name people can see his music career and movie making side separately rather than having fans be biased because of the bands music.
