It’s my pleasure to present to you the fi rst What’s On Libraries and Learning Spring Program which covers a range of

learning events and activities being held across the City from September to November 2013.

You can enjoy a variety of reading, writing, technology and craft programs at any one of Hume City Council’s learning centres or libraries.

For those still trying to get their head around the new technologies, make the most of our free series of digital and technology sessions running across the City. You can learn how to use the internet, email, social media, iPad, create movies and many more. Turn to page 7 to see the complete list of what’s on offer.

Why not head down to the Craigieburn Gallery to watch locally

produced short fi lms directed by Hume residents as part of the CuriousWorks Meet + Eat program, or view a selection of artwork by Sunbury artist Jacquie Blight and Craigieburn photographer Melissa Hobbs. October will also see the opening of an exhibition of artworks created by our local Year 7 to 12 students.

Author Kerry Greenwood will talk about her latest release at a special event in the Sunbury Library. If you’re feeling inspired, you may even consider signing up to our free Positive Voices writing workshop at Craigieburn Library.

Children and young people can make the most of the school holidays by coming along to any of our free activities and events. On the topic of school, all young and mature-age students considering their tertiary options in 2014 turn to page 22 to read about our Hume

Education Guarantee Scheme and Hume Multiversity initiative or visit this link: www.hume.vic.gov.au/yourpathwaytouniversity

I hope you have a wonderful spring, and that you make the most of all the exciting events and activities on offer.

Mayor, Cr Geoff Porter
