Technology is begging to help spread wealth equally among the world’s population. This is because technol- ogy has helped spread awareness, allowed for funds to travel faster/easier, and is educating the deprived. Nonprofit websites are an example of tech that has been providing tools and information – to the unfortu- nate – that can be used to escape the grasp of poverty. Poverty rates have fallen as a result of utilization of online resources and technology, all the while popula- tion has been increasing. Proof of technologies involve- ment in changing that number is apparent when you look at poverty rates corresponding to year. The late 1990s – which is the begging of arguably the most im- portant tech boom – saw a slight increase in poverty (but at a declining rate). The poverty rate in the past ten years has fallen more than any prior years; this is a testament to the new innovation’s power to do good. It is often true that an elite few dictate what the many can and cannot do. This control comes in varying forms. One type of control is seen in the corporate/ financial field, another can be seen in the political. Technologic innovations such as crowd funding, Bitcoin, online petitions, and the internet in general are providing a way for the masses to overcome the border of control. One of the greatest examples of this was during the Arab spring. The uprising, which took place in 2010, was arguably magnified by effective communication channels only possible through the use of technology. Beyond that event, white-hat activ- ists (known as hacktivists) have been the anonymous police force against injustice. The internet has become a platform that allows the weak to be in a position on par with higher powers. Technology is the means by which humanity can challenge power and surpass boundaries. Technology accomplishes this by providing us with 3 essential tools: 1) Universal access to aggregated information 2) A medium to communicate in an organized/anonymous manner 3) The ability to go beyond human physical/ mental limitations. Technology is begging to help spread wealth equally

among the world’s population. This is because technol-

ogy has helped spread awareness, allowed for funds to

travel faster/easier, and is educating the deprived.

Nonprofit websites are an example of tech that has

been providing tools and information – to the unfortu-

nate – that can be used to escape the grasp of poverty.

Poverty rates have fallen as a result of utilization of

online resources and technology, all the while popula-

tion has been increasing. Proof of technologies involve-

ment in changing that number is apparent when you

look at poverty rates corresponding to year. The late

1990s – which is the begging of arguably the most im-

portant tech boom – saw a slight increase in poverty

(but at a declining rate). The poverty rate in the past

ten years has fallen more than any prior years; this is a

testament to the new innovation’s power to do good.

It is often true that an elite few dictate what the many

can and cannot do. This control comes in varying

forms. One type of control is seen in the corporate/

financial field, another can be seen in the political.

Technologic innovations such as crowd funding,

Bitcoin, online petitions, and the internet in general

are providing a way for the masses to overcome the

border of control. One of the greatest examples of this

was during the Arab spring. The uprising, which took

place in 2010, was arguably magnified by effective

communication channels only possible through the

use of technology. Beyond that event, white-hat activ-

ists (known as hacktivists) have been the anonymous

police force against injustice. The internet has become

a platform that allows the weak to be in a position on

par with higher powers.

Technology is the means by which humanity can challenge power and surpass

boundaries. Technology accomplishes this by providing us with 3 essential tools:

1) Universal access to aggregated information 2) A medium to communicate in an

organized/anonymous manner 3) The ability to go beyond human physical/

mental limitations. Using technology as a tool, humans are only limited by their

Human limitations

The future of technology is mostly unpre-

dictable, although, if the current trends

continue humanity will have years of suc-

cess ahead. Technology is in essence be-

coming a part of who we are and how we

behave. We may see more integration of

technology with the human body, a more

decentralized approach to the internet and

finances, cures for seemingly incurable dis-

eases, and expansion into new frontiers.

Overall, technology is helping us overcome

limitations and is allowing us to truly strive

for greatness.
