HUMAN KARYOTYPE ANALYSIS INSTRUCTIONS
1. Print ONE copy of each of the following:
a. Human Karyotype Analysis Instructions (this page)
b. Normal Human Male Karyotype
c. Human Karyotype Analysis Form
d. ONE numbered “Unknown Karyotype” with a chart of
Human Chromosomal Syndromes at the bottom
2. Record the number of your “Unknown Karyotype” at the top of your
Human Karyotype Analysis Form.
3. Cut out each of the chromosomes of your numbered “Unknown
Karyotype.”
4. Using the Normal Human Male Karyotype as a guide, affix each
chromosome of your “Unknown” to the appropriate space on the
Human Karyotype Analysis Form.
5. Compare your finished karyotype with the Normal Human Male
Karyotype. Using the chart of Human Chromosomal Syndromes,
diagnose the condition of your “Unknown.” Record the following:
a. sex of the subject
b. number of chromosomes
c. chromosomal syndrome of the subject
