Fallingwater was designed for the Kaufmann family in 1935 Completed in 1939 and instantly became famous 1991 Architectural Record published a list of the 100
hundred most important buildings of the previous century which included 12 of Wright’s masterpieces (Fallingwater)
2001 A.I.A. selected their top 10 favourite buildings of the twenties century topped by Fallingwater

Interpretation of horizontal vs. vertical & inside vs. outside

nature even when closed
Warm glow from interior lighting resonates autumn
Terraces reflect similar structure than rock ledges below
Horizontal & vertical lines can be associated with formation of
rocks, trees, Bear Run and waterfall Parts of the terrace suggests the continuum of inside out Sound of falling water fills the house & creating the illusion of waterfall from under the house
