INTRODUCING THE COM1000 HD SYSTEM

DIRECTV®, in partnership with Thomson, is proud to present their next generation HD content distribution system for the Hospitality and Free-To-Guest markets. The Pro:Idiom™

compliant COM1000 HD system with its compact modular design promises to be a cost reductionover existing technology while providing enhanced functionality and serviceability.

The solution will utilize QAM technology and Pro:Idiom encryption for delivery of DIRECTV HDcontent over a coaxial cable infrastructure. The core video serving technology is Thomson’sCOM24 cards each capable of serving two HD video streams. The COM24 is housed within theCOM100 server chassis to provide a high density configuration reducing space and cost.

The modular and scalable design of the system is capable of supporting up to 24 programs of MPEG2 /MPEG4 HD content while only occupying 8RU of rack space! Other components of the head end system paired with the Thomson products are a RF distribution panel,Layer 2 switch, and a QAM modulator.
