Welcome to Simon Lloyd’s 40th birthday magazine

page 2 Headline Occasions

From champers-filled fun to sentimental moments with the family, the 10th July brought about a night to remember as Simon celebrated his 40th birthday along with 140 of his closest friends

and family. As the former ‘veg-man’ partied and drank the night away - being the centre of attention with great demeanor - he appeared to have evolved quite dramatically from the little innocent boy his parents recall who was never a few steps away from his mum and with a heart as golden as his youthful mop of fair hair. Despite having grown into a steadfast, confident businessman, it is clear that Simon remains a devoted family man who is utterly adored and respected as a son, brother,

nephew, cousin, husband and father. George summed it up very well by hailing his dad a super hero under the name of ‘Super D’ (although, it is yet to be confirmed whether Simon will be adopting the purple lycra one-piece to match).

“He really came out of himself when he went to university but his house

was the biggest pits ever!” - Dad

“My dad taught me to always live for today and do it while you can”

Some say Johnny Vegas, others Paul Potts - and even the frontman in the Scissor Sisters.

Whoever you compare Simon to, there’s no disputing his sheer admirable charm. And as 140 of his closest family and friends filled out the 18th century stunning amber-tinged stone structure that is Nebbs House - home to the charismatic Lloyd family - it was clear that this Bury-bred ‘veg-man’ is utterly adored by all. Champagne corks

began popping in their dozens in celebration of Simon’s 40th birthday at 7:30pm sharp on the mid summer’s evening.

Sophie, one of Simon’s three undisputedly gorgeous children, got the party vibe going - handing round an array of tempting fresh fish canapés, whilst young George nattered away to guests - working the crowd with admirable confidence.

The two generously stocked bars provided the central point for the party as the guests drank the

night away, creating a bubbly vibe of chit chatter and laughter. With leggy girls in Matthew

Williamson minis, floor length sweeping maxis and Lanvin

heels dressing the candle-lit poolside, the vibrant party certainly wasn’t far from a scene in the American hit TV series, Entourage. The breathtaking fairytale folly

set at the back of the garden provided the perfect backdrop as two young soulful acoustic singers entertained guests with a selection of Simon’s favourite chill-out and rock classics. Partying the night away until

6am in true ‘Si style’, it was clear that 40 years down the line, this once shy, little, blonde boy had grown into a tall, dark and handsome fully-fledged party man. No doubt, ‘Mrs Doubtfire’(as

he is known by Sam) will have donned his best pair of marigolds just a few hours later, in an attempt to brush off his hang-over along with the wine spills.

could have. You always know where you stand with him and he’s the most loveable guy I

An inspirational

One on one family talk

husband, father, son and brother

Once a little blonde angel, at 40 years of age Simon Lloyd has transformed into a work hard, play hard businessman. But one thing that has remained

constant is his utter devotion to his family.

“An incredibly

loving dad”Jack

Trina

Paul Living in a magnificant white-stone home in the leafy suburbs of Bury, where he lives with his three

gorgeous children and a knock-out wife, Simon really does have it all. But far more inspiring is his

utter devotion to his family. A truly caring and loving family man, Simon is an inspirational father, husband, son and brother. Here his family share their

favourite memories of Simon and explain just why they love this man so much.

He was a very sensitive, shy little boy and an absolute golden child. It made being a mum

relatively easy because he was just so good. He wouldn’t go anywhere without me and to this day is still very family orientated and is incredibly caring and loving. I remember how attached he was to his Action Man - he used to get all the outfits for it and dress it up! When I look back at old pictures of him, I wish so much that I could take him back to being my little boy again - I just know how much he

loved me and depended on me and that brought me so much

happiness.

Simon was a very fair little boy who wouldn’t say boo to a goose. My favourite memory of him was when he came home one day with a huge gash in

his side after falling off a tree and landing on a metal spike. He was

surprisingly calm and tried

to claim that he’d fallen on a twig as he knew

he shouldn’t have been climbing trees. It makes me chuckle when I look back now - that was about as naughty as Simon got! After going away to university, he

Page 13: Document

really came out of his shell and transformed into the 6ft something, extremely confident and talented man he is today. He’s a family man through and through and that’s why I think being away at University didn’t really suit him. At the time we were a bit disappointed that he quit his Maths degree but looking back it was undoubtedly the best thing for him. Working on his grandfather Horris’ fruit and veg stall was much more suited to him and best of all, was the start of him and Samantha! I love him to bits. He’s my little

boy, big boy, a great dad and an admirable husband. I know he’ll always be there to look after me. From the day that he was born to the day that I die, I will love him dearly because he’s one of two greatest sons a man could have.

He’s an incredibly loving, caring

dad. I like spending time with him - he’s dead fun and up for doing stuff. I like playing Call of Duty on the PS3 with him. We’re at about an even standard but

he’s a pretty sore loser when I do beat him! He’s always there whenever I

need him and I really admire that in him.

My dad’s really funny - he can always make me laugh. My favourite memory of him was when we went to a really big water park in Spain - he loves doing all the slides with us and acts more like a kid than me! I love playing football with him and even though I’m not very good he sometimes lets me win. I look like my dad a lot and we have the same eyes which is a good thing - (I guess!).

I love going to the cinema with my dad - my favourite film I’ve watched with him is Avatar. If he was a superhero he’d be called ‘Super D’ and would be invisible. That would be really cool. Except when it came to bed time and he’d know whether I was asleep or not! I think I’d make a really good super hero - my special power would be to have power force hands where I can make objects move without even touching them. I’d be called ‘Super Force’ and would have a big letter ‘F’ on my suit. Mum and dad take us on

lots of great holidays but my favourite family holiday so far was Lanzarote because I met lots of friends and we played loads of fun games together. The

best bit of the holiday was when Jack threw a glass of water over Sophie in the morning because she wouldn’t wake up! I’d like to maybe play a trick on someone when they’re sleeping and put girly make-up on them! Watch out Dad!

He’s an absolutely superb brother. It was quite emotional when he went away to university - it was really weird not having him in the house and I missed the simple things like watching him getting ready to go on nights out.Everyone’s like ‘ah I love your

brother - he’s so top’ and it just makes me think: ‘yeh he is - and I’m so proud to be able to call him my brother as well as my best mate’. He’s an absolute family man and became a great

dad over night when he had Jack. Those kids have been brought up amazingly. He has so many great qualities and I admire him in so many ways.

Simon was the first baby into the family and I absolutely doted on him. I always went round to Trina’s so I could get to bath him and feed him. He really did bring something very special into the family. I remember when I used to look after him that he’d always ask for things or to do things that the other boys wouldn’t dare ask but Simon would somehow get away with it as he has buckets

and buckets of charm. I see his granddad in him so much - very

organised, meticulous and positive. I’m just so proud to have him as one of my nephews, I can’t put it into words.

A few Christmases ago he fell asleep at his mums and I got the make-up

out on him and filmed the whole thing. He got me back by filling my shoes with snow. He might be relaxed thinking that we’re even now but what he doesn’t realise is that I’ve got that make-up video of him in editing production!

Simon has too many special qualities to list but the way he makes me laugh, his caring nature and and great ‘cleaner-upper’ skills are what make him an amazng husband and father. He’s the perfect male housewife - my very own Mrs Doubtfire! I remember when Si

proposed to me, he said: ‘I’d like to take this opportunity to ask you to marry me’, in a really formal manner! I was a bitembarrassed but it was perfect and I had no doubt that I wanted to say yes! When I first met Si on Bury

market, I was so incredibly attracted to him. He had a beautiful six-pack at the time and was very confident. Me and my mate used to fight over who’d

go and get the sugar for our tea so we could walk past his stall! He was a real charmer and has always had a lovely smile. From our very first date at the Crofters Arms, Bradshaw I had a really strong feeling that he was the one for me. Over the last 16 years together

as Mr and Mrs Llyod, Simon’s brought security, contentment and all round happiness into my life, as well as three gorgeous children!
