in 2007!Currently, the
Beech AcresPark play-ground features a tot-lot com-plete with a train and trainstation, swings, a sand playarea, a mini-mountain, a play-house, and an arched bridge.

The shape of AndersonTownship is changing. Overthe past few years, residentshave enjoyed many newamenities and conveniencesprovided through the carefulplanning of AndersonTownship’s trustees.
One major improvementthoroughly utilized from theonset is beautiful AndersonCenter, the township’s multi-purpose government, civicand arts facility on Five MileRoad.
With a vision to create acenter of the community, township trustees set out sixyears ago to design a publicspace that would connectbusiness, government, arts
and civic organizations. The result is a building that
not only provides a “one-stopshopping” option for residentsneeding government services, but a public gathering spacethat is helping create a vibrantsense of community inAnderson Township.
Organizations housed with-in the facility (besidesAnderson Township govern-
ment) include the AndersonArea Chamber of Commerce,Summerfair Inc. andAnderson CommunityTelevision.
Open for public rental, thefacility includes an attractive223-seat state-of-the-art the-ater, rooms for conferencesand weddings, and other pub-lic spaces.
In just over a year,Anderson Center has becomea focal point for community,private and business meet-ings, and theatrical produc-tions of all kinds includingperformances by theCincinnati ChamberOrchestra, the township’sorchestra-in-residence;
Beechmont Players, the ForestAires, Playhouse in the Park, and Anderson CommunityBand.
Situated in a park-like set-ting, Anderson Center is sur-rounded by wetlands, water-falls and a landscaped walk-ing trail which connects to theFive Mile Trail. Now 2 yearsold, the popular Five MileTrail’s hilly path traverses

a burning building.Want to try your hand at a
little blackjack or poker? See ifLady Luck will smile on you.
Many festival-goers won’t
leave the event without eatingat least one ear at the firefight-ers’ famous “buck ‘n’ear”booth, where you can buy adelicious roasted ear of corn to
go with your favorite bever-age.
All this fun is for a goodcause. This year, the Fireman’sAssociation plans to set theseproceeds aside to buy newmedical equipment for theAnderson Township Fire andRescue Department.
In the last few years, theFireman’s Association con-tributed proceeds to completethe Anderson TownshipFirefighter’s Memorial, now afocal point of Beech AcresPark and a place of pride inthe community.
Come support theAnderson Township Fire andRescue Department by attend-ing the annual Fireman’sFestival.

Over six decades, theAnderson Township Fireman’sAssociation has contributedmore than a million dollarsworth of equipment to theAnderson Township Fire andRescue Department.
Since its inception in 1940,the association’s goal has beento fund vital medical equip-ment such as automated exter-nal defibrillators and ambu-lances.
A major source of the fund-ing for this equipment comesfrom the many generous
donors who contribute duringthe association’s annual funddrive and through theFireman’s Festival, held inconjunction with GreaterAnderson Days.
To raise these funds, theAssociation operates games ofchance and a roasted cornbooth at this three-day festival.
As always, the Fireman’sAssociation thanks you for
your generosity and continuedsupport of its projects.
Come to Beech Acres ParkJuly 24-26 to show your sup-port of the township’s emer-gency medical services!

NoisewaterNoisewater is an Anderson
Township favorite, regularly play-ing in the neighborhood. The bandis 3 years old and its young talentis quickly becoming known aroundthe Tristate for funky fresh hits andrestyled classics.
You may have heard the jamband, pop, and classic rock tunes atGreater Anderson Days the last twoyears. Noisewater’s top goal is toget people on their feet and feelinggood. No one leaves disappointed!
The Remains(Sunday night headliner)
Gary Shook, Kirk Dupont, LouAielli and Pete Ellerhorst compriseThe Remains, one of Cincinnati’smost entertaining, sought-after andrespected bands.
The Remains have performednearly every type of venue andfunction imaginable, with a playlist so extensive and diverse, agood time is guaranteed for all.
The Remains is a musical groupof four members consisting of key-boards, bass, guitar and drums.
The group was originallyformed in the spring of 1987 andhas remained (no pun intended)together in its original form for thepast 22 years.
The name, “The Remains,” wasoriginally taken to signify that we,the members of the group, were thelast remaining members still per-forming from the various bands wehave been associated with over theyears.
In essence, as others have leftthe music scene to pursue otherpaths, we have remained commit-ted to providing the best possiblevalue in entertainment.
The members of the Remains allbegan playing as kids, with LouAielli and Kirk Dupont establishinglocally successful bands by the ageof 12. Directly out of high schoolGary Shook’s band, Rubber Soul, was featured on the prestigiousWEBN Album Project.
The total combined years ofexperience logged by each of thefour members of the Remains invarious bands throughout theircareers totals well over 100 years. However, we feel the best is yetto come!
The Remains have per-formed at hundreds of variousevents, bringing with themthe ultimate in professional-ism and musical versatilitythat is required to makeany event truly successful.
Chuck Brisbin &the Tuna Project

best bands in the Tristate area. With their “wall of sound” cre-
ated by a solid six-piece unit, they have been pleasing crowdsat such events as The CincyBlues Fest, The Delhi SkirtGame, The Summer ConcertSeries in Harrison, WestFest,The Winter Blues Fest andThe Taste of Delhi.

Brian Green, 39, says he“grew up in the parks ofAnderson Township.” Now, inthe parks, he’s watching hisown children grow.
“As a youth, I played selectsoccer and baseball at BeechAcres and Juilfs Park,” heexplains. “Now that I am afather, I coach my sons andthey play at Riverside andBeech Acres and the fields andplaygrounds are well done. So, I appreciate the park plan-ning and progress that hastaken place over the years.”
This all inspired Green tocreate the winning poster forthe 2009 Greater AndersonDays Poster Contest.
“We have lived withinwalking distance from BeechAcres Park for eight yearsnow and we have enjoyed
attending Anderson Days,”Green says. “It really is a greatmid-summer tradition whichevolved from all the Fireman’sFestivals back in the day.”
Over the past few years, hehasn’t missed the Sunday fire-works and, while attending,he has over heard, on morethan one occasion, spectatorsin the crowd say this is reallyan impressive display.
“This does cultivate a senseof Anderson pride,” says the30-year resident. “So, when Isaw the announcement for theposter contest I was motivatedto create a submission thatwould represent a visual solu-tion which would attract spec-tators to experience a greatevent.”
Green says he enjoys mar-keting and the creative plan-
ning process that occurs whenpromoting a big event. Asmarketing director forOktoberfest-Zinzinnati andTaste of Cincinnati, he hasdeveloped the image of theseevents.
“The poster and advertis-ing were major componentsgiving the event the necessaryenergy and public relations‘buzz’ to be successful,” hesays.
He chose to create a simpleand colorful silhouetted sym-bols to graphically illustratethe great food, live entertain-ment, fun for all ages and themarquee fireworks takingplace on Sunday night. Healso wanted to illustrate thedaytime hours, as well asemphasize the night time fire-works display.
He’s proud his piece won,but even more proud of theevent and community it repre-sents.
“My wife and I are enjoy-ing raising our two boys in anenvironment we are familiarwith. This is a solid communi-ty.”
