Brad Foss (RB, 6-0, 205, Sr., Mahtomedi, Minn.) rushed 23 times for 159 yards (both ca-reer highs) and one touchdown in UMD’s 27-7 road win over Northern State. The 2009 All-NSIC North Division second team pick, who scored on a 14-yard run to put UMD up for good 4:14 into the first quarter, and also caught one pass for 16 yards. Despite being a part time starter during his Bulldog career, Foss now ranks sixth on UMD’s all-time rushing charts with 2,467 yards and is averaging a nifty 5.8 yards per carry -- the third best figure in team history behind All-Americans Isaac Odim (7.2 ypc) and Ted McKnight (5.9 ypc). Two of the three teams still unbeaten in NSIC play this fall -- UMD and St. Cloud State -- will collided this Saturday at James S. Malosky Stadium in the the Bulldogs’ regular season home finale. UMD will enter the showdown sporting a 27-game NSIC winning streak, having not lost to a league foe since falling 24-17 at Winona State on Nov. 15, 2003. It’s last league setback at home came on Oct. 7, 2000 (37-27 to Concordia University-St. Paul), which translates into another 26-game winning streak. The Bulldogs have surrendered a first-quarter touchdown in only one of their last 15 games (Grand Valley State University scored twice in the opening 15 minutes of play en route to a 24-10 victory over the host Bulldogs in the 2009 NCAA II playoff quarterfinals last November) and haven’t given up a rushing touchdown all year. UMD has outscored the opposition 374-85 -- and 97-9 in the first quarter.

UMD is off to an 8-0 start for the fifth time in its 78-year history, joining the 2008, 2002, 1981, and 1980 clubs. In three of those years -- 2008, 2002 (both under current head coach Bob Nielson) and 1980, the Bulldogs went on go unbeaten and untied in the regular season.

The Bulldogs are 35-2 in their last 37 games, a run which started with a 23-13 win at St. Cloud State University in the 2007 season finale.

Chris Schaudt (DT, 6-4, 237, R-Fr., Ballard, Iowa - Ballard of Huxley) may not have led MSU in tackles but his contributions where huge none the less as MSU earned a crucial 13-3 win over Wayne State Saturday. Schaudt finished with six tackles - five of which were solo - in the victory. Of those six tackles, Schaudt accumulated two sacks for a loss of 19 yards and recovered a fumble. The fumble recovery was huge as it was recovered in the MSU endzone thwarting a Wayne State drive that could of potentially tied the game.

Sam Brockshus (K, 5-10, 183, So., Spencer Iowa, - Spencer) was true on all three of his kicks Saturday connecting on a pair of field goals (33 and 19-yards) while hitting his only extra point opportunity. Brockshus - who led MSU in points in the win with six - also kicked off four times for 244 yards, averag-ing 61 yards a kick. The 33-yard field goal was a season-long for Brockshus.

MSU now leads Wayne State 3-0 in the all-time series, including 2-0 in Wayne...The ten-point margin of victory for MSU was the largest in the series history...Sophomore kicker Sam Brockshus hit on a 33-yard field goal to make the game 10-0 midway through the second quarter, marking his longest field goal of the season...Brockshus, who started the year 0-5 in field goal opportunities, has made his last four kicks...The Mavericks finished the game with 10 tackles for a loss of 54 yards...Redshirt freshman Chris Schaudt had two sacks for 19 yards in the win...The Maveick defense limited Wayne State to just 176 yards on 69 plays...MSU had the ball for 12:34 in the second quarter.

An early ten-point lead was not enough for the Dragons against the No. 11 ranked Augustana Vikings took a 47-17 victory on Saturday. MSU Moorhead came into this game the underdogs, but did not show it as they came out with big stops on defense in the first quarter against Augustana. Elliot’s three interceptions, two of which came in the end zone. He tied a school record for interceptions in a game, tying Bob Hopek (Concordia, 1966), Dan Choudek (Bemidji State, 1984) and Josh Jones (Concordia, 2006).

Junior quarterback Kevin Koch ended the game going 21-for-40 for 170 yards with a long pass of 32 yards, and had three interceptions. Brandon Thompson caught eight passes for 40-yards on the day while Ty Small finished with four catches and 86-yards. Kramer had a 24-yard field goal and two extra points. Jeff Schuette led the Dragon defense with 11 tackles and one sack for a loss of two yards. Jake Larsen had ten tackles in the game. Steve Parks also had a quarterback sack for a loss of five yards.
