Jesus used fishing as an interesting metaphor for evangelism. We are supposed to be fishers of men. the disciples knew that, with this image,

Jesus wanted to make it clear that we should pull free from the safe moorings along the harbour wall, weigh anchor, push off from the shore and set sail for the open sea. there we should cast out our nets. No one

cast their nets out in the harbour basin or on land. We have to go where the fish are. Jesus said, “the son of Man came to seek and to save what was

lost.” to you and me, he now says, “Go and seek the lost.”

We want to be obedient to Jesus’ commission with everything that we are and have, don’t we? it is only because our faithful Mission partners give us their backing in prayer and with donations that we can set off in the CfaN ship and haul in mighty catches of fish as we did in Akure –

as you can read in this iMpACt.

Although there was a severe storm in the afternoon, more than 160,000 people attended the final meeting on the rain-soaked, swampy field.

We know that we could not weigh anchor and set sail without all this precious help and support. That is why everyone who supports

on Daniel Kolenda’s agenda was a visit to the Governor of the federal state of ondo and the traditional tribal king.

Campaign in Akure. the prayers of intercessors all over the world bore fruit. on the saturday morning, when more than 25,000 pastors and

church workers met at the Fire Conference, peter van den Berg preached a powerful message

about the “final steps to receiving the power of God”. Daniel Kolenda, who was to deliver the second part of the message, did not manage

to preach at all, as the fire of God was already falling. the Holy spirit had taken control of the meeting. We rejoiced to experience the Lord’s

mighty intervention.

Among those healed was a young man who had received a knee injury playing football several

months before. He had not been able to move his leg without terrible pain, but tonight Jesus healed him.

He could squat, run and even jump without pain.

We heard from a Muslim man tonight who said he had been suffering from terrible pain. It had become so severe over the previous 10 days that he had barely been able to sleep. He came to the platform with his “Now That You Are Saved” booklet in his hand and told us that Jesus had healed him and that he had accepted him as his Lord and Saviour!

For six long years, this woman had an epileptic fit every night. Full of joy, she told us that she had had no more fits since the campaign started.

Former witchdoctor shares his testimonyOn the fourth day of the campaign the

crowd of 185,000 listened as this former witchdoctor gave his testimony. He told us that he had been a very evil man who had specialised in black magic and death cur-ses. When the CfaN team visited his town in 1990, his business collapsed because

his customers became Christians. He was absolutely livid and went to the campaign to curse Bonnke – but he ended up getting saved instead! The next night he loaded a

truck full of witchcraft charms and fetishes and ritualistic tools and took them to the

campaign site to be burned. Today, 20 years later, the witchdoctor is still serving the Lord and travels around Nigeria as an evangelist! He said that he is now known

as Adeduko Bonnke.

10 years.

... people made decisions to lead a life of discipleship during our

campaign in Akure. They accepted Jesus as their Redeemer and, with

the help of the counsellors, completed decision cards to document what

they had done in the eyes of the visible and invisible world. God has given

CfaN the task of plundering hell and populating heaven. In Akure we took a further step towards that goal.

More than 70,000 people attended the opening meeting of the CfaN Great Gospel Campaign in Akure, Nigeria – including the Governor of Ondo State and the tribal king. Many thousands res-ponded to the preaching and the salvation call given by Daniel kolenda. The air was full of anti-cipation about what the Lord would do over the next few days.

On the second day ominously dark clouds and lightning threatened to bring the meeting to an early end. However, although rain fell all over Akure, the field where we were gathered stayed dry and we were not hindered. The Lord had opened his “umbrella” over us and the mes-sage of repentance and restitution was gladly accepted by more than 100,000 of those present.

Almost everyone who testified to healing that evening said that they had previously gone to witchdoctors to be cured, but most of them had only become worse. In the middle of our cam-paigns we regularly begin burning witchcraft tools, idols, charms and fetishes. It is fascinating to see that many people are set free and turn to Jesus when these things go up in flames.

On the third evening Daniel kolenda preached with authority about the power of the blood of Jesus. After leading thousands in the prayer of salvation, the evangelist appropriated the power of that blood, breaking every curse over the people of this region in the name of Jesus. The people brought piles of occult charms and fetishes and “juju” to be burned – just as in Acts 19:19. As the flames leaped skyward and the huge crowd sang and danced in celebration of their freedom, the whole campaign site looked like a boiling sea.

On the Sunday afternoon, the last day of the campaign, there was a massive thunderstorm and the CfaN team wondered if anyone would brave the weather to attend the open-air meeting. When, in the drizzling rain, we reached the rain-drenched, swampy field, over 160,000 people were standing there in the mud. Peter van den Berg, CfaN’s Vice-President for the past 30 years, said that it was the muddiest cam-paign field that he had ever seen! Yet that did not stop the people from attending. It was a vivid testimony to the extraordinary hunger of the people for God, to which heaven responded. The town will never be the same again.

News is not logic or reason. It is what happened.

“Gospel” means Good News! News are facts! The Gospel is not a story, it consists of solid facts! If the President of America came to your town, it doesn’t need discussion, philosophy or logic. It is news, simply news. A Presidential visit is not a “conception” or article of faith. It is an event. You can’t reason about it. Whether you are a simple person or a brilliant scholar, you just have to accept it as news.

The Gospel is the same—news, good news. Christ has come and sets people free from their sins, heal their bodies, and baptize them in the Holy Spirit. News is not logic or reason. It is what happened. Nobody thinks it up, so nobody can reason about it. Here is how Paul put it in 1 Corinthians 15: 2-5. “By this gospel you are saved if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. That Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve.” Agreed?

While I was in hospital following

attempted suicide, psychologically

and physically done in, I got to

know a Christian. When I was

transferred from the surgical to

the psychiatric ward, he gave

me your booklet “From Minus

to Plus”. I read the prayer in it

aloud (I had never prayed before

and didn’t have a clue how to

pray) and experienced Jesus at

that very moment. Through him I

experienced healing, forgiveness

and inner peace. For me, that was

a personal miracle – something

I would never have been able to

believe in my old life.

A few weeks ago I filled in a

prayer request on your website for

my neighbour’s baby daughter

(7 months old). She has been in the

cancer ward since she was born

with leukaemia. The last time we

met, her mother was very afraid

that her little daughter would

need a bone marrow transplant

to be healed as, according to the

doctors, she had a very aggressive

form of leukaemia. It, therefore,

gives me even greater pleasure

to tell you that God has heard

the prayers and, when I met the

mother again a few days ago, she

told me, beaming with joy, that

the little girl is microscopically

cancer-free.

meeting in Bad Kreuznach where

Daniel Kolenda was preaching. He

was very impressed and deeply

moved by the power going out

from that young man. However,

he did not have the courage to

take the important step and go
