Hints for writing to your twins ... Keep letters simple — write at least twice a year and send Christmas, Easter or even Birthday cards. Send photos of your members and church — write about your members and conference activities, projects and special masses. Describe your parish and the work you do. Over time, share information about your friends and family and what they do. Refrain from discussing politics within either your country or theirs. Enclose an international reply paid coupon — this can be bought from an Australia Post shop for $2.50. Take care to inform them that the coupon can cover airmail postage for a standard letter back to you. This may require instructions. Enclose a self-addressed envelope for them to use. Check and confirm their overseas address. Preferably type your letters for ease of reading. Do not be discouraged if they don’t write back. Often there may be insufficient English skills within the conference; but there may come a time when someone visits who does have the skills and then they will appreciate your letters and may even write back. If you are concerned and would like to ensure that your twin is well and active, please let us know. We will contact the National Council of the country involved via NOPDC. Twinning is the development of a partnership between an Australian conference and a conference in one of our twinned countries overseas. Our partnership can be a rewarding experience. Writing to them, telling them about your everyday life, your parish life and your conference activities can build a great friendship and a shared understanding of Vincentian works. We develop this partnership by sharing our time, ourselves, and our possessions. We put time aside at each conference meeting to receive reports, to pray for our twin and arrange a mass at least once a year. Vincentians overseas know their Australian Vincentian brothers and sisters care for them when they receive letters and photos, their quarterly contribution, Christmas and Easter grants and the occasional project payment from their Australian twin. Over the page are extracts of letters from twins and on the back you’ll find useful twinning information. Your twins ... Your partners ... Are you there for them? What is twinning?

Over the page are extracts of letters from twins and on the back you’ll fi nd useful twinning information.
