Whilst in resort, you will be able to view your chosen accommodation, ski the resort and meet the relevant resort staff.

Our approach to inspection visits eliminates any pre-trip concerns to enable you to have a stress free school tour. We are delighted to offer a 2 night ground arrangement package, including local car hire, half board accommodation and 1 day ski pass – please contact us for further information.

Risk AssessmentsWe are always on-hand to support you with every aspect of your tour. We can offer advice on how to complete your specific risk assessments and health and safety paperwork. We can also provide assistance with the completion of local authority approval forms or paperwork which may be required by your Local Authority.

For more details about how we assess the risks of the components of your tour, please refer to page 57.

At HTS, our aim is to work in partnership with you to achieve the common goal of providing your students with a ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ school skiing experience. To help enrich your pupil’s experience through a well-organised school ski tour, our knowledgeable team will listen to your requests and recommend a resort that best suits your needs, budget and ski tour requirements. Complete Peace of Mind

We are dedicated to achieving the highest standards for health, safety and financial security, to ensure that you have the best possible ski trip abroad. More and more Local Education Authorities are refusing school trips with companies that do not have the appropriate accreditations. HTS tick all the right boxes, giving you the reassurance you deserve.

Health & SafetyThe health & safety of our customers is of paramount importance and auditing processes are used for all our accommodation, excursions and transport services. We operate to a PLC standard and our health & safety department is the best in the business. In addition, our Innsbruck team conduct stringent safety checks on all our suppliers in line with TUI standards and with the backup of the TUI H&S Dept. in the UK.

Financial protectionAs we are part of TUI Travel PLC, we offer the highest level of financial protection to all our Party Leaders. TUI’s global presence ensures that we have a year-round worldwide support network. As well as being a member of the Federation of Tour Operators (FTO), all of our tours are fully bonded by ABTA and ATOL protecting your group against any unforeseen events in the travel industry.

School Travel Forum (STF) HTS is a full member of the STF. The STF is a group of leading school tour operators that promote good practice and safety in school travel. All full members of the STF adhere to a set Code of Practice and Safety Management Standards, which meet the requirements of DfES guidelines and are externally verified each year by suitably qualified independent Health and Safety professionals. We strongly recommend only travelling with STF members.

Ken Bailey HTS Managing [email protected]

It has been immensely enjoyable to have been involved with school skiing for so many years. In that time I have seen so many changes in what is provided to schools from accommodation through to equipment and transport BUT providing an exciting safe skiing experience for young people still remains mine and the companies number one priority.Undoubtedly the advances in snow making and the investment in ultra modern uplift has meant Austria is at the top for providing a fantastic skiing experience for all students and staff. All skiers can benefit from great snow cover throughout the winter season as well as having the ability to get in lots more exciting runs during their lessons.

Our Austrian programme linked to our excellent Austrian staff working from our Innsbruck office enables us to provide a wide choice of hotels and resorts while ensuring everyone is well looked after at all times.

.

Meet the Experts

Carey Burbeck Austrian [email protected]

For an all-round affordable alpine experience, you’d be hard placed to find a better destination than Austria. Believe me, as a former teacher who moved to Austria twenty-five years ago, I understand what factors make a successful ski trip.

From famous resorts like Kitzbühel to traditional villages like Mauterndorf, we offer the best selection of destinations and hotels to suit every group and every budget. Add to that the modern lift systems, great snow record, excellent snow-making, the enviable reputation of the Austrian ski schools and a wide choice of evening activities… These are just some of the reasons why groups come back year after year to Austria – the land where modern skiing was born!

Our on-going Party Leader support is what sets us apart from our competitors, as our commitment to personal service and attention to detail is evident from the first moment you contact us. We pride ourselves on working personally with all our Party Leaders and we promise to offer you the right ski package at the right price.

David Plommer HTS Sales [email protected]

23 years on from my first ski season, I am delighted to continue to work in school skiing with HTS. The feedback from party leaders staying in the range of resorts and accommodation is vital to us and we continue to make strides to improve our high levels of service delivery. I remain hugely impressed by the diversity of options available in Austria. In these tough economic times, we feature a range of options for the budget conscious within the SkiValue range.

Whether your group is new to the slopes and looking for excellent beginner access such as Schneewinkel and Lofer or require doorstep skiing in the immense Amade region, I hope you’ll agree that the extensive HTS product range has something to cater for all school skiing requirements. Whether you’re in contact with myself, a colleague based in Brighton, or one of our regionally based account managers, we would all be delighted to discuss your requirements with you.

Austria, the home of HTS, continues to prove to be our most popular destination and it’s easy to see why. Austria’s popularity with our groups is due to the extensive skiing available for all abilities, the most modern lift system in Europe, great snow record, access to some of the best glacier ski areas in Europe and the world famous teaching techniques of the Austrian ski schools.

Off the slopes, our accommodation options are just as impressive. Under contract we have the widest variety of accommodation of any British schools’ ski operator to Austria. This ranges from modern, well equipped youth hotels to traditional guest houses, family-run pensions and even four star hotels. Austria’s infrastructure ensures that the evening entertainments and recreational facilities offered are second to none.

Ten attractive resorts make up the Salzburger Sportwelt which has a long association with school skiing, both from Austria and the UK. We are delighted to feature the resorts of Zauchensee, Kleinarl, Radstadt, Altenmarkt and Eben. In addition we offer Werfenweng and groups here can choose to ski either the Salzburger Sportwelt or the Hochkönig.

The accommodation has been selected to offer both unrivalled access to the slopes as well as superb facilities that are well suited to young people and groups. The enormous investment in the lifts, snow making and infrastructure ensure that the Salzburger Sportwelt is rated as one of the premier destinations on offer.

On the slopesThe ski schools of this area have an excellent reputation for all levels of skier and snowboarder; indeed Zauchensee and Flachau are World Cup ski race venues. The well planned lift system and links between the resorts ensures groups can maximise their skiing time and queuing is kept to a minimum. Well groomed pistes are also a feature of this ski area.

Furthermore, all groups receive a Ski Amade lift pass, which includes not only the Salzburger Sportwelt but also the Gastein Valley, Schaldming, Hochkönig and Grossarl – 860km of skiing in total! Therefore it is hardly surprising that we have chosen to make this one of our key destinations as we believe it offers great value for money combined with an unrivalled winter sports’ experience.

Village information

Ski Amade - Salzburger Sportwelt

The world cup venue of Zauchensee is close to Altenmarkt and offers snow sure doorstep skiing. Limited amenities are available in Zauchensee, but Altenmarkt has a good selection of shops and the new thermal indoor swimming pool. Radstadt is connected to Altenmarkt and is an attractive historic walled town about 2km from the lifts.

Kleinarl and Eben are also attractive village in the heart of the ski area and provide easy access to great skiing. From Kleinarl it is possible to ski to Zauchensee. Picturesque Werfenweng lies just outside the ski area on a plateau above the Salzach river valley. It has become a favourite destination for groups seeking flexibility and value for money.

The Hochkönig ski area forms part of the impressive Ski Amade region, one of the largest in Austria. Recent developments have completed the links, enabling our groups to ski from Mühlbach in the East to Maria Alm in the West – all on uncrowded and well groomed slopes. The area is characterised by small, traditional villages such as Dienten and Maria Alm which offer Austrian ‘gemütlichkeit’ in abundance. A good range of après ski possibilities are on offer after a full day on the slopes.

On the slopesThe region has wide, interconnecting slopes and beginners will quickly gain their confidence on the nursery slopes in Maria Alm and in Mühlbach. Despite an outstanding snow record, the whole area remains fairly unknown outside the schools’ market and a few well informed locals. It has replaced many of the older lifts and improved the links in recent years making it now possible to ski between the two villages at either end of the Hochkönig. All groups automatically receive a lift pass which covers all areas of the Ski Amade (Salzburger Sportwelt, Gastein Valley, Schladming and Grossarl).

HochkönigVillage InformationMaria Alm is regarded as one of the prettiest and most unspoilt villages in Austria. Maria Alm enjoys a spectacular setting at the foot of the jagged Hochkönig mountain range. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming and the ski slopes can be easily reached. From here the ski area extends through Dienten to Mühlbach, an attractive alpine village which has also retained much of its charm and tradition.

OberlungauCharacterised by charming, unspoilt villages and boasting an enviable snow record well into April, it’s hardly surprising that Oberlungau is one of our most sort after destinations - offering great value for money. The three ski areas, Katschberg, Grosseck – Speiereck and Fanningberg offer a modern lift system, wide, varied open runs and good progression.

The new gondola in St Michael, replacing the chairlift in the village, has helped to enhance the Speiereck and skiers are now transported in less than ten minutes to the top station. Groups also appreciate the good infrastructure on offer which makes a varied and interesting ‘off the slopes’ programme easy to arrange.

On the slopesThe ski schools take great pride in the standard of tuition and are consistently highly rated by our groups. Many groups start either on the nursery slopes at village level in St Michael or Mauterndorf, whilst the uncrowded slopes of Fanningberg are also a good starting point. Most of the red runs are found on the Katschberg and this mountain has great snow cover and wide open pistes.

The 6km long A1 slope from the top of the Katschberg to St Margarethen has been rated as one of the best in the Alps. At a small supplement it is also possible to extend the lift pass to include Obertauern, especially attractive to groups who choose to travel at Easter.

Village informationSt Michael is a lively village with a compact centre. Shops, bars and cafes are on hand whilst the local bowling alley is also often frequented. All amenities are in resort and can be reached by foot from the hotel. The historic walled town of Gmünd has a large square and many buildings and small streets dating back to the Middle Ages. Our groups love the traditional and unspoilt atmosphere and appreciate the facilities on offer. Renweg and Malta are just a few minutes from Gmünd and are peaceful villages with basic amenities.Mauterndorf and Mariapfarr are both charming and historic settlements. Mauterndorf is dominated by a spectacular fortress dating back to the Middle Ages. The village is often used in film sets thanks to the narrow, winding streets and colourfully painted buildings, many dating back several centuries.

Obertauern

Jugendhotel Felseralm✦1

One of the best interlinked ski areas in the Alps, Obertauern prides itself on the long winter season from November to May, making it a firm favourite with HTS groups. The centre of the resort is at 1700m, at the top of the Radstädter Tauern, a main pass road running north - south through these spectacular mountains.

The Obertauern ski area radiates from here and it is possible to ski both clockwise and anti-clockwise, courtesy of the well planned lift system and interlinking pistes. Obertauern was developed in the 1960s and 1970s but still retains Alpine traditions and considerable charm, whilst embracing the benefits that the infrastructure of a modern resort can offer.

On the slopesGreat beginners’ areas, with good snow cover right through the season, are easily accessible from our hotels, whilst the wide open pistes inspire confidence and encourage more experienced skiers to test their ability.

As expected from a top class resort, expert skiers are also well catered for – the challenging mogul runs on the Gamsleiten are just one example of the excitement on offer. Snowboarders will not be disappointed; Obertauern has a snow park and comes highly recommended. In short, Obertauern’s popularity is well deserved and has become one of our most popular destinations.

Village informationObertauern came into its own in the 1960s and since then has become one of the most popular resorts in Austria. It is located at 1700m, on the top of the Radstädter Tauern pass road, and is the closest Austria has to a purpose built resort. Nevertheless, the buildings retain a true alpine style and the quality and standard of accommodation and amenities is first class.

Bad KleinkirchheimBKK, along with the interlinked village of St. Oswald, offers great intermediate skiing with wide tree lined runs, modern uplift and an efficient network of links. Major investment has centred on snow making facilities, offering almost 100% coverage to supplement what Mother Nature provides; however there have also been recent improvements in the resort infrastructure and thermal facilities.

Our groups are accommodated on Lake Millstatt which provides easy access to the ski area, whilst the towns Seeboden and Millstatt also have a good range of amenities and offer an affordable alternative to BKK.

On the slopesBKK is rated excellent for intermediates and offers a good range of tree lined red runs. Most slopes are north facing which means they hold their snow and snow cover is enhanced by snow making (95%). The caring ski school encourages beginners who will soon gain confidence and progress to the sunnier, more open runs at St Oswald. Whilst not the most challenging resort for advanced skiers, the Franz Klammer World Cup Run is well worth testing out and many skiers also enjoy perfecting their technique on the multitude of red runs for which the resort is famous.

Village informationSeeboden is the most westerly resort on the Millstatt Lake and closest to the motorway. The charm of Seeboden lies in its tranquil and picturesque setting on the shores of the lake. The larger town of Spittal is a short drive away, with countless shops and amusements on-hand.

The historic town of Millstatt is dominated by an abbey church and complex dating back to the middle ages. Basic amenities are found in the town but many groups find BKK or Spittal offer a wider choice of entertainment venues.

Dobriach is the closest village to BKK at the eastern end of the lake. It has some basic amenities; however there is a greater choice in Radenthein, just five minutes away.

Dachstein WestDesignated a UNESCO Heritage centre and set amidst some of the most spectacular scenery in Europe, the ski area of Dachstein West has proved a popular destination for school groups for many years. On-going improvements have enhanced the lift system and many drag lifts have been replaced with state-of-the-art chair lifts.

The unspoilt and welcoming resorts we offer are steeped in tradition and their appeal is in their easy going atmosphere, as well as offering good value for money. Access to the slopes is easy whilst good après ski opportunities abound.

On the slopesBeginners will gain confidence on the long, tree lined blue runs in Gosau or on the Astauwinkl in Annaberg. Intermediates will appreciate the wide variety of red runs on the Zwieselalm, which offers good links to Annaberg and Russbach. Meanwhile, the snow park on the Edtalmbahn in Russbach has been redesigned by freeride experts to include more ‘obstacles’ or more fun for boarders.

The artificial snow cover continues to be improved year on year, hardly surprising that Dachstein West now makes a perfect destination for school parties and offers great value for money.

Village informationBad Ischl is a former royal spa town, set in the heart of the Austrian Lake District. This attractive resort is surrounded by dramatic mountains. The charming centre and good infrastructure makes this a favourite destination with our groups. Strobl lies slightly to the west on the edge of Lake Wolfgang and is a small resort which is quiet in winter. Bad Ischl and Salzburg can both be easily reached.

With two access lifts in the village connecting to Russbach and Annaberg, the charming village of Gosau offers a great base from where to explore the ski area of Dachstein West. There are basic facilities on hand in the village, all of which can be reached by foot from the hotel.

The ski area of Tauplitz - Loser still remains a popular destination with many groups returning year after year. Our groups stay in or around the stunningly beautiful Grundlsee, between the Tauplitzalm and the Loser.

The whole area has a rather nostalgic feel to it; the villages are picturesque and have changed little over the years. However, the main town of Bad Aussee, a spa centre with small, narrow streets leading off the main thoroughfare, offers a range of amenities for evening entertainments and the area represents good value for money both on and off the slopes.

On the slopesThe ski areas suit beginners and intermediates and are popular with families and school groups from Austria who appreciate the impressive snow record, well groomed slopes and good wintersports infrastructure. Skiers are also impressed with the short lift queues and uncrowded pistes, especially in Loser which has a modern lift system and where all groups begin the week. The ski area of Tauplitz is a short distance away, also covered on the lift pass, but is only suitable for intermediate and above level skiers.

This is a great example of what our Ski Value range has to offer. Largely unknown to the UK market, the ski area offers a great range for school skiers and the package represents excellent value for money. In our opinion this hidden jewel is an ideal choice for beginners and intermediates.

Zell am SeeEnjoying one of the most spectacular settings in Austria, Zell am See is enduringly popular as a skier’s paradise. We offer our school groups a great selection of villages around Zell am See, all within a short journey to the slopes by coach. The Kitzsteinhorn Glacier, which is included in the lift pass, offers year round skiing, guaranteeing good conditions early and late season.

The picturesque centre of Zell am See is a pedestrian area, offering a variety of bars, cafes, shops and restaurants, whilst après-ski activities are offered both in Zell am See and Kaprun. It is no surprise that Zell am See is one of the most loved destinations for our schools.

On the slopesMost groups access the Zell am See ski area with the Areitbahn Gondola and it is here that the beginners will spend their first days. There are some wide-open runs at the back of the Schmittenhöhe, whilst more experienced skiers may prefer the Sonnkogel which is linked to the Schmittenhöhe.

The gentle nursery slopes in Kaprun help beginners to gain confidence before moving on to the higher slopes of the Maiskogel or onto the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier. At Easter, the glacier offers snow sure skiing as well as spectacular views over the Hohe Tauern National Park.

Village informationThe beautiful lakeside setting and enormous range of leisure facilities are just two of the attractions of Zell am See. Our groups love the pedestrianised centre with great après ski bars, cafes, shops and restaurants on offer. At the foot of the Grossglockner High Alpine Road and surrounded by spectacular scenery, the small village of Fusch has become a real favourite with our groups. There are only limited amenities available in the village centres but Zell am See is a short drive away. Piesendorf, in the Pinzgau Valley also offers a good base to access the lifts and the après ski facilities either in Zell am See or Kaprun.

Saalbach HinterglemmOne of the most impressive ski areas in Austria, the twin resorts of Saalbach and Hinterglemm have long been a favourite destination for our groups, thanks to the excellent links, lift system and wide ranging resort infrastructure.

Both villages retain their traditional character and are well known for their lively après ski, bars, cafes and restaurants in abundance. Saalbach Hinterglemm hosted the World Cup championships in the early 1990s and continues to attract an international guest list.

On the slopesThere are a number of suitable nursery slope areas where the beginners can start or for the seasoned skiers who wish to get their ski legs back. More challenging red and blue runs abound and for advanced skiers, the black runs from the top of the Schattberg and Zwölfer mountains should not be missed. Snowboarders will appreciate the snowboard parks which are internationally renowned. In all, Saalbach Hinterglemm is an outstanding resort for skiers and snowboarders at any level.

Village informationSaalbach Hinterglemm comprises of two villages 3km apart. They are both bustling and lively and have become renowned for the vibrant après-ski and party atmosphere. The villages are pedestrianized and offer every conceivable amenity to enhance a winter sports holiday.

Nestling between the Wilder Kaiser Mountains to the north and the Kitzbuhler Alps to the South the Schneewinkel offers a wide choice of skiing in a number of different resorts, all amidst beautiful surroundings. The area is referred to by the locals as a “Schneeloch” meaning that it seems to get more snowfall than the surrounding resorts.

Lofer has a long and successful association with school groups and the quaint village centre, with its pedestrianised zone, sits directly at the bottom of the lift.

On the slopesLofer and the Schneewinkel are two separate ski areas, although both offer excellent skiing opportunities. For groups staying in Unken, Lofer is the nearest resort and is well suited for beginners and intermediates. It is possible to upgrade and ski the Steinplatte for a day, which offers more challenging pistes

For groups staying in Kirchdorf and Fieberbrunn, they will find themselves in the heart of the Schneewinkel ski area which comprises of St. Johann, Fieberbrunn and the Steinplatte. Although these resorts aren’t currently linked, an efficient ski bus service will transport our groups from one ski area to another. Fieberbrunn also hosts a round of the World Cup Freeride Competition which sees the world’s best freeriders in this resort.

Unken is a pretty border town close to the historic city of Salzburg and the Loferer Alm ski area. It has a warm and welcoming atmosphere and is quite unspoilt. There is an indoor swimming pool in the centre of the village which is extremely popular with our groups.

Kirchdorf is a small village just outside St Johann, well located for the three ski areas of the Schneewinkel. It is also a short drive to the cosmopolitan resort of Kitzbühel for those seeking to sample the renowned night life.

Fieberbrunn is a reasonably sized resort with good facilities, it is charming and welcoming , with many of our groups returning year after year. Snow-sure slopes and modern lifts make this a great choice for our groups who can also benefit from the extended ski pass available.

KitzbühelKitzbühel is the home of the world famous Hahnenkamm men’s downhill ski race, which is held every January. Our groups have the unique chance to ski parts of the course, which is locally known as the Streif. Kitzbühel’s cosmopolitan pedestrian centre, known as the Innenstadt, offers first class shopping opportunities, along with a wide selection of bars, restaurants as well as a great après ski atmosphere.

The new sports centre, along with the Aquarena, are great venues for evening entertainments which many groups like to combine with an evening stroll through the Innenstadt.

On the slopesKitzbühel is a beginner’s paradise, with dedicated learning areas on Pass Thurn or at the Fleckalmbahn Gondola between Kitzbühel and Kirchberg. For the seasoned skier, the “ski safari” is a wonderful scenic route taking you from the Hahnenkamm, zig-zagging across the mountains to the Resterhöhe lift at Pass Thurn. Kitzbühel is a great choice for late season skiers, as the area offers good snow conditions and uncrowded pistes.

Village informationMittersill is a medium sized town with a good range of amenities, giving speedy access to the Kitzbühel ski area either from Hollersbach or from Pass Thurn. There is an interesting National Park Centre in the town.Well positioned between Kitzbühel and Kirchberg, the delightful village of Reith is a firm favourite with our groups. With two renowned ski resorts on the doorstep, groups can find every amenity on hand to enhance their winter sports experience.

Oberndorf is a small traditional village situated between St Johann and KItzbuhel, it has its own lift taking skiers into the ski area of St Johann. The area has also hosted a round of the World Cup Skiacross series for a number of seasons now.

Ski Juwel / Wildschönau The newly connected Ski Juwel ski area, which links Auffach in the Wildschönau and Inneralpbach, has more than doubled the available skiing covered on the lift pass. This development complements the already heavy investment in the ski area, which has seen the replacement of drag lifts with state of the art chairlifts.

The Wildschönau still retains considerable charm and continues to be a firm favourite with school groups. The traditional and unpretentious villages and genuinely warm welcome extended to guests characterise this delightful valley.

On the slopesGroups either begin on the Markbachjoch in Niederau where nursery slopes are at village level or at the middle station in Auffach, where there is an excellent beginners’ area accessed by the Schatzberg gondola . Groups soon progress to the gentle, wide blue runs at the top of the gondola in Niederau.

Most intermediate skiers concentrate on Auffach, where numerous red runs can be accessed from the top station of the gondola and it’s from here the link with Inneralpbach begins. A red run takes skiers down to the middle station from where Inneralpbach can be reached. Snowboarders have also discovered the delights of Auffach and the Snowpark on the Schatzberg is a highlight.

Village InformationThe attractive village of Oberau is in the heart of the valley and have been a favourite destination for British skiers for decades. Oberau is the larger village but the more challenging skiing and connection to Inneralpbach is found in Auffach. Good facilities off the slopes are also available to our groups either in the Wildschönau valley or in Wörgl, only a short drive away.

Radfeld is a delightful village in the Inn Valley with good facilities and close to Worgl and the historic town of Rattenberg. The slopes of the Wildschonau or Alpbach can be reached by a 20 minute drive.

The Wildschönau Valley lies in on a plateau above Wörgl, the largest town in the area. In Wörgl, one of the most popular amenities is the Wasserwelt, which is the largest indoor/outdoor swimming complex in Tirol. The long awaited extension of the ski area will link Auffach to Inneralpbach via an 8 man gondola from the Hahnkopf on the Schatzberg with a mid station planned at the Pechalm. This will give a total of 145km of skiing in the two valleys.

Ziller ValleyA well-known destination to the British skier, the Ziller Valley consists of three large ski areas plus the Hintertux Glacier - which means extensive and snow-sure skiing is available throughout the winter season to all abilities. Our groups are accommodated at the northern end of the valley which allows easy access to evening entertainment venues, such as the exciting new indoor swimming pool in Fügen.

Many of our groups skiing the Ziller Valley choose to visit Innsbruck for an evening, as it’s only a short coach journey away and offers a wealth of après-ski attractions.

On the slopesThe Ziller Valley has an excellent snow record due to the altitude of the various ski areas and the snow-making facilities. The huge investment over the last few years in lift systems and links between the previously separate resorts has made the region a massive draw for all nationalities. Skiers and boarders of all levels appreciate the well groomed slopes and well planned links as well as the ever increasing amount of snow parks in the region.

✦1 Alphotel ✦2 Gasthof Windegg

Innsbruck is a great base from which to absorb the full winter sports experience and our groups are always impressed with the wide range of amenities on offer.

A variety of lift passes are available, depending on where groups are accommodated or on their ability. Some like the flexibility offered of the regional pass which covers all nine ski areas surrounding the city. However, most of our groups opt for the ski pass which includes the local ski area of Tulfes (Glungezer) and Axamer Lizum, the most popular and convenient area to Innsbruck which offers 60km of snow sure skiing in total. Groups in the Stubai valley automatically receive the Stubai Super Ski Pass which offers 140km of skiing in the valley and on the Stubai Glacier.

On the slopesThe skiing and snowboarding opportunities in this area are truly impressive and flexibility in the ski areas and ski passes available means that groups of any composition will enjoy snow sure pistes and world class skiing in close proximity to their hotel. Local passes are included in the price but groups staying in Innsbruck or Tulfes can also upgrade their pass. Groups staying in the Stubai Valley can take advantage of the largest glacier ski area in Austria, with over 100km of skiing available to suit all abilities.

Village informationThe small village of Fulpmes is one of the numerous resorts in the Stubai Valley between the motorway and the Stubai Glacier. It has a small centre with shops, bars and restaurants which can be reached by foot from the hotels.Tulfes lies above the main Inn Valley to the east of Innsbruck. By virtue of its north facing aspect, spectacular views over Innsbruck and the mountains to the north can be admired.

Sölden, Ötz & PitztalThe Pitztal is completely unspoilt and characterised by traditional villages and hamlets strung along the valley floor - from the town of Imst in the north to the village of Mandarfen in the south. There are three ski areas, the Hochzeiger, Rifflsee and the Pitztal Galcier. The area is especially recommended for early and late season skiing due to the long winter season.

Sölden has an international reputation as one of the finest all-round ski areas in Austria. Skiers of all abilities, snowboarders and those seeking lively après ski will not be disappointed. By contrast, Ötz is more sedate but has an impressive range of skiing and is a great choice for those wishing to build confidence at the start of the week.

On the slopesThe Pitztal offers glacier skiing at its best, the Pitz Express transports skiers in a matter of minutes from the valley to the base of the glacier at 2840m. From here, over 50km of wide open pistes invite skies of all abilities to enjoy the excellent snow and spectacular views. The neighbouring Rifflsee ski area is popular with families and, unlike the Glacier, it’s possible to ski down to the valley and the resort village of Mandarfen.

For groups skiing Solden and Otz a ski pass which includes 4 days skiing Ötz and 2 days skiing Sölden is included, though it is also possible to have a pass to cover Sölden for the entire week. Both areas offer varied skiing for all abilities, boast ultra-modern lifts and provide guaranteed snow well into the spring. The Swatch Snowpark in Sölden, at 2550m, continues to expand and Solden is regarded as one of the leading snowboarding resorts in Europe.

Village informationImst is a lively town with a good infrastructure and wide range of shops, bars and restaurants. The pedestrianized centre is a popular meeting place after a day on the slopes. Imst enjoys a centre position, just off the motorway which connects it to the Ötz Valley. The Pitztal is also easily reached from here.

This imposing and impressive valley is located in the west of Austria, close to the Swiss border, and offers great skiing for all abilities in a very snow-sure environment. Pretty, traditional villages strung along the valley floor offer a warm welcome and our accommodation is especially convenient to access the extensive and modern lift system.

Montafon is a much sort-after destination and offers great early and late season skiing. With many iconic mountains including Zimba, Drei Türme, Madrisa (bordering Klosters – Davos in the next valley) and the highest peak Piz Buin (3312m), skiers appreciate the breath-taking scenery both on and off the slopes.

On the slopesThe Montafon ski area prides itself on offering something for everyone. Beginners are well catered for with gentle, well groomed blues whilst advanced skiers have the advantage of the new lift between St. Gallenkirch and the Hochjoch ski area, which link the two large ski areas together. Our groups receive a full valley pass covering the three ski areas (Silvretta Nova, Gargellen and Golm). One highlight is to ski the Hochjoch ski tunnel which, at 476m in length, is the longest in the world.

Montafon ValleyVillage informationSt Gallenkirch lies towards the end of the Montafon Valley and is near to the Gaschurn ski area. It has its own lift which takes you from the village into the Silvretta Nova ski area.

Vandans is a friendly and compact village with the Golm ski area within walking distance from the centre. The neighbouring resort of Batholomäberg is on the main valley road. There are some shops, bars and restaurants on-hand, but the regional centre of Bludenz is a short drive away.

Feldkirch is the main provincial town, close to the motorway and Swiss border and from here the Montafon valley can be easily and speedily reached, whilst the extensive, local amenities are close at hand.

This legendary ski area, known as the cradle of alpine skiing, is a world class resort of great renown. It is one of the largest ski areas in Austria and offers snow sure skiing well into spring due to the altitude and extensive snow making facilities. St Anton, despite its fame, still retains much of its village atmosphere and old world charm, however its reputation for lively après ski is well justified.

Our groups are accommodated in Imst and Landeck, both towns are situated a few minutes from the motorway which links them directly to the ski area.

On the slopesThe wide, blue runs of the Galzig Mountain are great for beginners to build their confidence and progress whilst intermediate skiers will find the long, varied red runs from the Kapall and Gampen provide some scenic as well as challenging pistes. However, it’s the advanced skier who has the most challenges with steep black runs and mogul fields from Mattun and Schindler Kar guaranteed to generate excitement. The longest run (10km) from the top of the Valluga presents a further challenge. There is a snowboard park on the Rendl Mountain which is extremely popular with boarders of all abilities.

Hannes Schneider from St Anton developed the world famous Arlberg technique of skiing to which today’s skiing owes its origins. There is now a museum in St Anton dedicated to Hannes Schneider and the impact his skiing style has had on the sport. He opened the first ski school in Austria just after the First World War and was the first to organise a system of progression away from Telemarking. This led to the development of parallel skiing which is the basis of ski instruction today.

In the vast majority of cases we are able to grant a 6th free place to parties which have 43 full paying persons at the time of final invoice/payment on a 49-seater coach. We will confirm the availability of the 6th free place at the time of booking.

GUARANTEED FREE PLACESOnce we have received your first and second deposits, your free places will typically be guaranteed on this basis. However, if your party drops below minimum numbers, the group is still liable for a small numbers supplement to cover the cost of empty coach seats. The guaranteed free place arrangement does not apply to the 3rd free place for small parties with 21 paying persons where, to obtain the 3rd free place, final payment must be made for 21 persons: please refer to information below on Small Party Sizes.

separate printed copy please advise us.c) Lessons are provided at group prices based on one instructor to thirteen pupils. Persons travelling on free or concessionary places or extra paying adults do not count in determining the ratio of 1:13 instructors to pupils. You may, at your own discretion, vary the size of groups to take into account uneven group sizes caused by varying ski standards. Groups which do not meet minimum number obligations may slightly exceed the 1:13 ratio. Extra instructors are available at an extra charge.d) When “fully supervised“ skiing or snowboarding is booked, pupils will also be accompanied by the ski school while they are having their lunch break (i.e. not skiing), but our arrangements do not oblige all instructors to remain with the group during this break. We strongly urge teachers to remain with the party at lunchtime.e) In order to comply with UK Health and Safety recommendations it is a condition of the company accepting a booking that the partyleader agrees that students will ski or snowboard only on marked and patrolled slopes and be supervised at all times by ski school instructors provided by a ski school contracted by the company.

SNOWBOARDINGA supplement of £35 applies for freestyle equipment. Please ensure you read the special Snowboarding and Ski & Snowboard Instruction pages on www.htstotalski.com. There is helpful guidance on these pages to make sure your snowboarders get the best from their course. In particular, you will need to bear in mind that, if you have a snowboard or mixed ski/snowboard group, you may need to book an extra instructor (Snowboard only groups ratio 1:8). Please note that parties booking a trip which comprises either all snowboarders or mixed skiers and snowboarders may require an extra instructor at a charge of at least £900 in addition to the £35 per person snowboarder supplement. Actual costs for snowboard instructors may vary by resort and HTS reserve the right to increase this charge accordingly should prices increase. The cost of both will automatically be added to your invoice.COACH SIZESCoaches normally have a maximum capacity of 49 seats and prices are
