Papaya Seed Varieties

Certified Red Maradol A vigorous and productive papaya that produces a very high yield of fruit. It has a thick skin, which turns yellow-orange when ripe. Deep red fleshed fruit averaging 1.5 to 2.6 kg that is very sweet and firm. Very strong outer shell for good shipping. Fruit sets as low as 35 cm above ground. High yield producer in as little as seven months from seed. This special strain of Maradol has a 10-year commercial production success. It is grown throughout Central and South America for local and shipping markets and is the preferred fruit for import to the US Market. Red Maradol adapts well to most conditions. This variety is superior to Red Lady #786 and is successfully grown in many regions with heavy Ring Spot Virus conditions. Packaged in 50-gram tin. Minimum germination 75%. Origin: Mexico.

Registered Red Lady #786 F1 Hybrid Red fleshed fruit averaging 1.5 to 2.0 kg. Good sweetness. Sets fruit at average 70 cm above soil. Tolerant to Papaya Ring Spot Virus. Produces fruit on average nine months from seed. Fruit ships well and trees produce about 35 fruits per season. First year production is larger than second year production. We have found this variety to be less resistant to fungus than the Certified Red Maradol. Packaged in 10-gram envelope. Minimum germination 75%. Origin: Taiwan

Original Hawaiian Solo Sunrise This variety has Red/Pink fleshed fruit averaging 565 grams of weight. Fruit is very sweet and has a hard outer shell, which is very good for long shipping. Fruit sets at average 1 meter above the ground. Hermaphrodite fruit is pear shaped, with a small neck at the stem end. Sunrise is #1 in world production and grows well to most conditions. Tree can produce up to 100 fruits per year. Sunrise was originally developed for International export from Hawaii. Packaged in 100-gram tin. Minimum germination 75%. Origin: Hawaii.

Certified Tainung #1 F1 Hybrid A vigorous plant that is very easy to grow and a high yield producer. Red fleshed fruit averaging 1.1 kg. Very sturdy outer shell for long distance shipping. High yield producer setting fruit at average 70 cm. Outer husk ripens with a green orange coloring. Female fruits are globe shaped and hermaphrodite fruits have a pointed blossom end. This variety is very popular in the Caribbean, Latin America, Asia and Africa. Packaged in 100-gram tin. Minimum germination 75%. Origin: Taiwan. Fruit weighs about 1.1 kg with red flesh and good aroma. The fruit has strong outer shell that handles longer distance shipping very well.

Gold Maradol – F1 Hybrid This yellow flesh fruit weighs between 2.8 to 3.8 kilograms. It contains approximately 12.5 brix degree. This hybrid is a vigorous plant having tolerance to Cercosporiosis (Cercospora spp). This variety has an early flowering, which comes approximately 45 days after planting out, and it is highly productive. Packaged in 50-gram tin. Minimum germination 75%. Origin: Mexico.

Bears Fruit sets at average .75 meters above ground. Usually sold in local Hawaii market. If environment is too dry, the tree will stop producing fruit. Packaged in 100-gram tin. Original Hawaiian Solo Sunset The fruit is red/pink in color and very sweet. Average fruit 425 grams. Hermaphrodite fruit is pear shaped, with a small neck at the stem end. This variety originated from the same parent lineage as Solo Sunrise and was cultivated specifically to produce a smaller fruit. The quality of the fruit and firmness of the shell is similar to Sunrise. Fruit sets at average 1 meter above the ground. Packaged in 100-gram tin. Minimum germination 75%. Origin: Hawaii
