Dear Friends,

There is a very simple formula for a good university – one that combines state-of-the art facilities, dedicated professionals and outstanding young talents.

After 15 years of working towards our vision, HSE University - Saint Petersburg has now become established as one of Russia’s most renowned, trusted and ambitious centres of learning, providing highly qualified professionals for the Russian and international labour markets.

The achievements of our graduates and alumni, our emerging catalogue of prominent international partners; our sustained rise up the university and subject rankings; and the increased presence of our international research centres are testament to these achievements.

According to RePEc publications database, HSE University - Saint Petersburg is ranked #3 in Russia and among Top-10% worldwide in Economics, demonstrating a huge progress on this path in last 10 years. Since 2015, our campus is in Top-3 in the National Ranking of Student Entry Quality among Russian HEIs in Social Sciences and Economics. Similarly, the combined campuses of HSE University are listed in the ‘Young Universities’ rankings made by QS (Top-60) and THE (Top-100) as well as in the Top-100 by QS and THE by Subject in a number of academic fields: Economics & Econometrics, Business & Economics, Sociology, Politics & International Studies.

Despite all of these achievements, we are not now ‘resting on our laurels’. The programme’s unique design has a dual focus in International Business and Business Analytics. It provides a solid foundation in business studies with flexible tracks in area studies topped up with internships and international exchange opportunities.

BACHELOR IN POLITICAL SCIENCE AND WORLD POLITICS

A comprehensive combvination of political science and international relations empowered by two tracks: European Studies (focus on Northern Europe) and BRICS Studies.

BACHELOR IN SOCIOLOGY AND SOCIAL INFORMATICS

The programme combines a classical set of Humanities and Social Science basics and robust training in social data mining & processing with modern technologies and methodology. Along with courses that develop critical thinking and practical skills of sociological research, the programme prepares its graduates to become highly competitive on the labor market in a wide number of professional fields.

MASTER IN APPLIED AND INTERDISCIPLINARY HISTORY: ‘USABLE PASTS’

The programme provides for interdisciplinary dialogue and comparative area studies (e.g. Russia & Eurasia; Global South & the BRICS).

Its focus is on advancing skills in identification, preservation, interpretation and presentation of historical artifacts, texts, structures and landscapes.

MASTER IN FINANCE

This ACCA-accredited programme aims at developing practical skills of financial and risk management for non-financial companies.

This programme is a track within the international IMESS consortium coordinated by UCL, that allows its graduates to receive two degrees from both UCL and HSE (special admission procedure and fees apply).

MASTER IN COMPARATIVE POLITICS OF EURASIA

This programme responds to the growing strategic importane of the wider Eurasian region, incl. former SU and countries of East Asia, and the need for national and international expertise in comparative politics of this region.

Curriculum is developed around core training in comparative political science and a comprehensive empirical training in contemporary methods of social research. MASTER IN APPLIED ECONOMICS

It takes students to an advanced level in contemporary applied & theoretical economics through an extensive training in macro, microeconomics and econometrics topped up with electives in Public or International Economics and research internship.

Since I joined HSE in 2010, I have been delighted to work with absolutely first-rate people and I have developed a deep affection for Russia. We have a great team of talented young researchers. I can proudly say that the majority of them finalized their research and the results are published in leading international journals in social sciences.

It is not only teaching for me, it is an exchange of ideas. I learn too. It is two way street and we exchange each other: I learn from young researchers and they learn from me. Generally, we work to develop the laboratory and make it better. Our main task is to enhance top notch research in Russian economics on an international level.
