    Recommended Hardware Guidelines

The following is an extension of theSolidWorks System Requirements pagefor choosing an optimal

system configuration for SolidWorks, Simulation, and Flow Simulation version 2012. These

recommendations are based on currently available hardware, internal testing and customer support

    experience.

For users who work with large assemblies, PhotoView 360, and Simulation should consider theupgradesectionfor potential upgrades and their benefits. For additional insight, review theComprehensive Hawk

Ridge Systems Hardware Guideabout the selections made in each category.

    Potential Upgrades

Upgrades beyond the systems listed in the tables above would only be recommended for users who fall

into one of the following categories:

Working with large assemblies and/or complex models when good modeling practices are alreadyin place

Extensive multi-tasking (Multiple programs running simultaneously) Heavy PhotoView 360 use Heavy Simulation or Flow Simulation use

These users may benefit from the upgrades listed below based on the operations which are currently

limiting their productivity. For general upgrades, the upgrade list is also sorted in order of importance

based on Hawk Ridge Systems experience. While each upgrade can improve a users productivity, not all

the upgrades are required at one time and Hawk Ridge Systems recommends adding upgrades in a

logical manner and evaluating performance gains after each change.
