Happy Anniversary HR to Who
I have to admit that I am proud of myself . I am lef t with no other option but to pat myself on my back. I mustgive myself praise f or all the mistakes I’ve made with the HR to Who blog since November 2012. Wait...did Ijust say give myself praise f or all the mistakes?? Yes. I did.
HR to Who of f icially began last November as I sat at myparents home awaiting Thanksgiving dinner. At f irst, Ichose to use Blogger but quickly returned to WordPress. Icreated a Facebook page and started on this journey justas I had several t imes prior. Well, I didn’t create theFacebook page prior but previous attempts at blogginghad been made.
I challenged myself in a blog post to go f orward in 2013with the blog. Perhaps I suspected that I would be writ ingthis post in December. No, to be honest, I probably didn’tsuspect that. Wishf ul thinking...maybe. Yet, here I am.Happy Anniversary HR to Who!
Mistakes
What is a mistake?
According to the dictionary provided by the research tool on Google Drive , a mistake is:
an action or judgment that is misguided or wrong. Example: Coming here was a mistake. Italso means to be wrong about. Example: Because I was inexperienced, I mistook the nature ofour relationship.
I made a lot of mistakes along the way. I’ve posteditems promoting things and accidentally misspelledsomeone’s name (Sorry, Joan!). I’ve changed my themeseveral t imes. I’ve accidentally crashed my site. I’vechanged hosting providers. I’ve added widgets. I’vedeleted plugins. I’ve tried several commenting tools. I’vebombarded the reader with Doctor Who related content.(Sorry, I can’t help that one!) I’ve done a lot in 2013 andthat has resulted in mistakes.

Guess what? I’m proud of those mistake because theyserved as teachers with important lessons waiting to belearned.
Lessons Learned
Why? It ’s really simple. I learned something f rom each of them. Istarted this journey knowing that I didn’t know everything and I’veread a LOT of articles this year on topics ranging f rom searchengine optimization to logo design. I’ve read about people who hadbad experiences at their jobs and been inspired by posts that wereuplif t ing.
Isn’t one of the reasons we are on this planet is to learn? If so, in2013, I’ve learned and I am better than I was in December 2012.
What’s Next?
I hope to be able to continue the path that I am on now. The DoctorWho 50th Anniversary year will draw to a close with The Time ofThe Doctor on December 25th. My f ocus next year may be less ofDoctor Who and more of Human Resources. Or, it may be more on social media. I have a plan f or whatcomes next but I think that inspiration should be the guiding f orce and not a predetermined course.
