HPCX Phase 4 Extension

– Service extended until Jan 31st 2010 – Maintain current overall performance and reliability– Move from 160+ nodes at 1.5GHz to 120+ nodes at 1.9GHz

as quickly as possible – 2 high memory nodes (128GB) included – 14 Day Node Swap Program– Non disruptive transition

• Aim to maintain a minimum of 128 nodes during transition

(mix of Power5 and Power5+)• Concludes with 120 Power5 + nodes

Replacement Hardware

Phase 4 will replace the Phase 3 Hardware with a cluster of 120 IBM System p5 Model 575+

servers; each of these nodes will contain 16 x 1.9 GHz processors, giving 1,920 processors in total.

118 of the 120 nodes will be equipped with 32 GB memory, while the remaining 2 nodes (32 processors) will have 128 GB memory

I/O, networking, system SW and Storage is unchanged.
