OUR COMMUNITY

much work goes on behind the scenes with meetings, planning and day to day operations to fulfill the many needs of this community in order to maintain what we have and improve what we can within the confines of budgetary compliance. As many of you know, two of our Board members had surgeries during this term so far, one had a major car accident and one lost her brother after a long and painful cancer. During each of these episodes, the Board pulled together and covered for each other to continue to keep HPCA moving forward without disruption.

What have we accomplished so far during the first 6 months? • Introduced and voted on written policies and procedures to support and clarify much of

which was handed down verbally so they could be in place for future Board members. • Created a Strategic Plan which will continue to be modified and fine-tuned as we move

along. This plan consists of: o 3-6-month plan for 2019.o 1-year plano 5-year plano Long Term goals

• Met or are meeting all the items within the 3-6-month plan by June 30. (Available atmonthly meetings)

• Identified 8 hazardous trees that were leaning towards the Road and notified thehomeowners who had them removed or have taken action ourselves for 6 of the trees sofar.

• Hired three new members for our newly formed Maintenance Crew. (formerly known as theRoad Crew)

• Approved Proposal for the new Gate system and submitted payment. Vendor will bestarting any day now.

• Initiated DropBox for old or worn flags for proper disposal.• Installed Stop Signs at the corner of the Playground to help protect our children.• Completed the remediation, painting and tiling of the office and moved the office back

across the street. Remediation was completed under signed contract. Painting andtiling completed through volunteer labor from our community and Board members.

• Worked with Legal counsel to be sure any action we have taken is legally appropriate.• Met with the Chief of Police to determine how we can best support each other.• Began discussion of plans to replace the valve at the swimming lake.• Filled most of the potholes with Cold Patch, Millings or modified stone as appropriate.• Began planning process for the Snack Shack at the Lake.• Rented a Porta Potty for the Fishing Lake on monthly basis

We encourage each of you to please come to our monthly meetings, support our many social events and bring positive suggestions to the Board through email or written communication so we can continue to support the cohesiveness of this community and not define the community by “old” and “new”, “full-timer” and “part-timer”, nor FaceBook postings which may only contain one view of a situation with only half the facts, or negative, hurtful statements which are only inflammatory and demeaning. We are a COMMUNITY! Let’s continue to bring the best of the past forward, introduce new concepts and ideas, and grow together! No one is perfect, but we can tell you every member of this VOLUNTEER Board cares and will gladly listen to your concerns and suggestions, helping when and if we can.

EVENTS COMMITTEE Special thanks to our Events Committee who held special events for the children over Halloween, Christmas and Easter, organized a spectacular New Year’s Eve Party, held two Bingos with fabulous prizes and recently had the Opening Day of Trout! As usual, breakfast and lunch were delicious and much appreciated! There are many new faces on the Events Committee this year who are a welcome addition to the ones who have been here for several years. With the new faces come new ideas, so watch the Bulletin Board for upcoming exciting Events! Debbie Thompson has volunteered to Co-chair with Dorothy Caputo. Sheila and Ron Harrison are very active in the group and join our past members: Jeff and Shelly Williams, Michele and John Bielarski, Karen Lazovic, Dorothy and Frank Caputo and our unofficial member Anne Probe. Cannot neglect to thank Brad Graham for being our official “Sign Changer.” Help from others is always appreciated when food orders are hopping and special thanks to Rob Fisher, Chuck Engler, Sherri DeWald and Maryanne Castka who pitched in and helped, even for a short time.
