Enhanced IT Resource Center (ITRC)Capabilities

HP has enhanced its IT ResourceCenter (ITRC) web site's onlinesoftware update ordering andmanagement capabilities. If yoursupport agreements, with softwareupdate support, are registered andlinked with the ITRC you can nowuse Software Update Manager(SUM) with no additional enrollmentsteps.

Be informed of upcoming releaseswithin 24 hours. When you select toreceive e-mail notifications you willbe informed of new releases severaldays sooner than your current notifi-cation method. To receive e-mailnotifications, select the "managesoftware notification" link from theSUM home page.

In addition, when you use SUM tomanage your IT infrastructure, youcan:• manage multiple support agree-

New OperatingEnvironment ReleaseStrategy

Starting with the March 2004release, we will not besystematically updating the OEmedia every quarter. This does notaffect the application releases,which will still remain on a quarterlycycle. For March 2004, we will beupdating the 11.23 OE media(DVDs) and not the 11.11 OE media(CDs and DVDs). For June 2004,the plan is to update the 11.11 OEmedia and not the 11.23 OE media.The Quality Packs and HWEbundles will also roll on this cyclewith the appropriate OE change.We will communicate informationon the plans for September andDecember 2004 through our onlinecommunication at http://www.software.hp.com/RELEASES-MEDIA/ in March 2004.

HP-UX 11.0Discontinuance

While HP will no longer refresh HP-UX 11.0 Support Plus bundles afterMarch 2004, you can still obtainthem from the Software Depot athttp://www.software.hp.com.Also, HP will continue to providenew and recommended HP-UX 11.0patches, as well as updatedinformation about the patches in theMarch 2004 bundles, at the ITRCResource Center. Software Package Builder (SPB)provides a visual method to createand edit software packages usingthe Software Distributor (SD)package format. Once software ispackaged, it can easily betransferred to a distribution media,mass produced, and installed byadministrators.

SPB provides a window into thesoftware package structure showingattributes that can be set for eachsoftware element. SPB loadspackaging policy rules andvalidates attribute values againstthese rules. Removal of the Netscape browserfrom media

Netscape Communicator 4.x andNetscape 7 will no longer beavailable on HP Application Releasemedia or Operating Environmentmedia. The fully tested andsupported Mozilla Application Suitewill replace the Netscape browserson HP-UX. If you still would like touse the unsupported Netscapebrowsers, they are available for alimited time at http://www.hp.com/go/netscape.

HP-UX 11.0/11iSupport Plus

HP is pleased to announce the latestrelease of HP-UX Support Plus.These tested bundles include patchesthat fix HP-UX defects, enable newhardware, and provide diagnostictools. Support Plus is available tocustomers by request only. Pleaseuse the following information todecide whether this release is rightfor you.

Special Note

HP will offer the final Quality Pack(QPK) and Hardware Enablement(HWE) bundles for HP-UX 11.0(B.11.00) in March 2004. This is inalignment with the discontinuance ofHP-UX 11.0 on March 31, 2004.These bundles are not rolling on theDecember 2003 Support Plusrelease.

HP would like to remind you that theend of service date for HP-UXPredictive Support is April 1, 2004.After this date, Predictive events forHP-UX will no longer be processed.As a part of the HP-UX PredictiveSupport discontinuance, all HP-UXPredictive Support customers areencouraged to migrate to HP InstantSupport Enterprise Edition (ISEE),HP's next generation remote supportsolution.
