Samsungs Green DDR3 DIMMS, using advanced 30nm class, 1.35V, 1-, 2- and 4Gb-based DRAM technology, offers a broad selection of load reduced dual in-line memory modules (LRDIMMs) ranging from 1GB to 32GB. Tests show that the Samsung energy-efficient LRDIMM solution uses 73% less power than its predecessor (DDR2), while increasing density, as performance doubles (with bandwidth up to 1600Mbps).

Measurements between a Samsung 50nm-class 1.5V DDR3-based server and a Samsung 20nm-class 4Gb DDR3-based server show that power savings at the memory level can translate into at least 67% powers saving at the memory level and 15% power savings at the system level. These savings can be considerably higher when factoring in total operating cost. Fewer racks would equate to increased power efficiency, greater floor space utilization and lower cooling costs.

SOLID STATE DRIVE INTEGRATION YIELDS ADDITIONAL OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCIES

Adding power efficiency to the ProLiant Gen8 servers, Samsung’s SM825 E-MLC 2.5-inch Data Center Edition Solid State Drives (SSD) enable highly reliable 24x7 performance in data centers and other server environments. Samsung’s 3Gb/sec SATA SSDs uses specially designed Enterprise-grade MLC to increase write endurance more than 100 times (7,000 TBW) that of standard MLC (60 TBW). The SM825 Data Center Edition delivers superior sustained random reads (35K IOPs), superior sustained random writes (10K IOPS) and fast sustained sequential write speeds (235 MB/s). It’s the ideal solution for large write-intensive workloads, such as online transaction processing (OLTP), virtualization, and logging. These SSDs are available in a variety of capacities, including 100, 200 and 400GB, and ensures that sensitive data is secure with Samsung’s advanced power-loss protection.
