Vol. XXXI No. 10 August 16, 2013 Olympic Spirit Soars: Red Royalty and Tan Turbo! 2014 ENROLLMENT Register by August 22 to take advantage of early enrollment savings! Enroll online @ www.ColemanCountry.com The Pioneers celebrated with their Unbirthday Party on Monday under the Big Top, with Scout Supervisor/Songmaster Ed leading campers and counselors in song and accompanying hand motions. Also on Monday, the Dimitri Invitational Soccer Tournament (DIT) got off to a “head” start, with 49ers participating in this 6-on-6 event. Winners received “Nothing Could Be Finer…” t-shirts after the finals on Thursday. Forty-niners in 5th and 6th grade enjoyed their day and evening at the water park, Splish Splash. Tuesday was the 3rd Grade Coleman After Dark. Campers had a blast returning to camp in the evening! Campers swam, bounced and climbed on the inflatables on the field and in the pool, participated in a scavenger hunt, and played Human Anagrams. Wednesday was a Wet ‘n’ Wild reprise. The inflatables were out at the Swimmin’ Holes, along with the sprayers shooting water into the air. There were walk-on-water mats, big slides, and mazes that campers had fun walking, jumping, and sliding on and through. For the 49er Girls’ Nite In, G5/6/7s came back to The Ranch for Coleman After Dark. They had a great time playing HumanAnagrams, watching a slide show, and completing a scavenger hunt. On Thursday, the Pioneer Show was a hit! Adapted for Coleman Country, the famous Eric Carle book, The Grouchy Ladybug, came to life. Supervisors, counselors, and swim instructors wore elaborate animal costumes, while campers were dressed as ladybugs! RhinocerRoss and KangarooKelli performed an original rap reminding campers to “Be the Difference” – the theme of the play. Also on Thursday, 49er campers in B7/8 and G7/8 had a choice of Heartland Golf or Laser Bounce. It was show time today in the Grand Playhouse! Campers and counselors participated in the Coleman’s Got Talent Show. A variety of talents were showcased, from singing to dancing, plus so much more. Red and Tan Rally On Monday, campers will receive their team bandanas (either red or tan). They should wear them daily, along with their team colors. To begin each day of competition, a counselor “Face- off” takes place. With the games under way and a couple of days to play, plus the Closing Ceremony (sing, ropeburn, and the plaque presentation), Olympic spirit is everywhere! Pardners engage in three days of friendly competition, showcasing teamwork and personal best. Each day highlights a different event: the Showdown (individual activities), the Gallop (team field events), and the Splash (races at the pools). BREAKING NEWS…Let the Games begin! Missing flags and fakeouts had everyone guessing all week about when Olympics would break. The rumblings on The Ranch finally came to a halt when the much anticipated 49ers Lip Dub recording this afternoon came to a close with a surprise. Campers have been practicing the intricately choreographed moves for several weeks and today were finally filming it, with the help of the entire camp for the finale. Suddenly, though, The Ranch erupted in cheers when the Mar- shalls, Sheriffs, and Rangers made their grand en- trances into the Grand Playhouse in place of the just- rehearsed final shot. “Feel this Moment” and “Don’t You Worry Child” are bound to be very meaningful songs for Coleman Country campers! Pictured above are some of the 49ers with Video Rich during their last rehearsal… Watch for both the Lip Dub and Olympic Opening Ceremonies coming soon to Coleman Town.
