PetChatz Lets You Videoconference with Your Pets from Work
March 3, 2014 | Christina Gray
Owners know how hard it can be to leave
your pet at home alone. Many pets
struggle with increased anxiety, loneliness,
and sadness when their owner leaves. For
owners, there may be fear that a pet will
have an accident or destroy their property.
Unfortunately, between work, school, and
errands, many people are forced to leave
their pets at home due to daily obligations.
Many pet owners wish they could check in on their pets to make sure they are not damaging the house or
exhibiting anxious behavior. Oftentimes, for many pets, just hearing the owner's voice or seeing them is
enough to combat anxiety or loneliness.

Story and images by Spencer Ackerman and James
Ball / The Guardian
Britain's surveillance agency GCHQ, with aid from
the US National Security Agency, intercepted and
stored the webcam images of millions of internet
users not suspected of wrongdoing, secret
documents reveal.
GCHQ files dating between 2008 and 2010

Yahoo webcam chats in bulk and saved them to
agency databases, regardless of whether individual
users were an intelligence target or not.

Indian court system contemplates replacing hardware-based videoconferencing with Skype
Story and images by Mustafa Plumber / DNA
Skype - a freemium voice-over-IP service and instant messaging,
which is used by people across the world to connect with their love
ones would soon be used by the Maharashtra prison department. This
would be done to produce undertrials before the court in the wake of
low police escort personnel availability leading to delay in criminal
trials.
A trial run was conducted at the Arthur Road jail and Taloja prison,
linking both the central prisons via Skype. The internet-based
programme is mainly pegged against the present method of
producing undertrials through video-conference to reduce the
telephone bills.

Edward Snowden Bounces Videoconferencing Call to SXSW through Seven Proxy Servers to Mask Location
Story and images by Ellen Nakashima / The Washington Post
America's spy agencies are so focused on "mass surveillance" that they
have missed clues about terrorist incidents, such as last year's Boston
Marathon bombing and an attempted attack on a jetliner on Christmas in
2009, former intelligence contractor Edward Snowden said Monday.
In an hour-long video discussion hosted by the South by Southwest
music, film and technology conference in Austin, Texas, Snowden, who
is living in asylum in an undisclosed location in Russia, asserted that the
National Security Agency's efforts to collect information in bulk have
backfired.
