Ummah Welfare Trust & the Most Needy
‘The example of the Believers in their mutual love, mercy and compassion for
one another is like one body; if one limb complains then the whole body
responds to it in restlessness and fever.’ [Sahih Muslim]
The balance of wealth and justice remains absent in much of the world today. For at least three
quarters of the world’s population, poverty is a fact of life. Hunger, sickness, homelessness, and more,
cast a heavy shadow over their lives as they struggle to survive with little or no support.
Ummah Welfare Trust formed as an NGO in 2001 with the goal of challenging this state of affairs.
Inspired by the Islamic teachings of empathy and selflessness, the charity would strive to support and
uplift the impoverished through the beautiful act of charity.
Alhamdulillah, following small efforts in Afghanistan in 2001, the charity has grown to support poor
communities in over 20 countries around the world today. Relief and development efforts, supported
by you, have improved the lives of millions, providing hope where there once was none.
How your Donations are used
Providing emergency relief to victims of conflict and natural disasters.
Improving access to clean water and sanitation in areas of deprivation.
Delivering da’wah and free Islamic education in isolated communities.
Sponsoring orphans and widows to ensure their rights are fulfilled.
Constructing Masjids, homes, orphanages and schools.
Supporting the provision of free medical and rehabilitation services.
Initiating new livelihoods for low-income families.
Most Needy’ Expenditure From 1st December 2015 and 30th November 2016
What Ummah Welfare Trust Does Ummah Welfare Trust’s ‘Most Needy’ category allows Ummah Welfare Trust to spend
charitable funds on its ‘most-needed’ project at any given time. It allows the charity to
respond swiftly in communities where there are urgent and pressing needs.
Giving to the ‘Most Needy’ project is a highly recommended method since it allows Ummah
Welfare Trust to allocate funds as and when they are needed according to urgency.
Donating this way is the preferred method for many donors who do not want considerations
of race or colour to impair their choice of recipient.
Alhamdulillah, between 1st December and 30th November 2016, Ummah Welfare Trust
received over £12.8 million of donations that were specified for the charity’s Most Needy
projects.

A 100% Donations Policy Donations change and save lives. They feed the hungry, treat the sick and educate the child. Since
every little helps, Ummah Welfare Trust works on a 100% donations policy. Alhamdulillah, this has
been the case since its inception in 2001.
A 100% donations policy means every single penny donated is used strictly for charitable efforts.
Donations go into a charity-only bank account from which nothing is removed for fundraising or
administration costs.
Like any organisation, Ummah Welfare Trust has administration and overhead costs to meet. Funds
to compensate staff, pay utility bills and rents and cover publication costs are all needed in enabling
the charity to function.
How does Ummah Welfare Trust cover its administration costs while adhering to a 1005 donations
policy? The charity runs a separate ‘administration-only’ bank account. This account has its own
sources of funding as detailed below.
ACKNOWLEDGMENT
On behalf of Ummah Welfare Trust we would
like to take this opportunity to wholeheartedly
thank all of its donors for their very kind and
generous donation/s given towards supporting
the Ummah in their hour of need.
With your support and prayers, thousands upon
thousands of people were assisted in meeting
their needs. We pray that the Almighty rewards
all of you in abundance both in this world and
the hereafter.
