How We Can Calculate the Required Man

How we can calculate the required man-hours if we know the BOQ Qty. e-g i have to install pipe which is 350m total length and i could install 10m/day with 8 labor. it means 0.8hrs/unit and if the total qty is 350m i need 280 man days and X 8hrs= 2240 hrs for this activity which will be my Budget Labor units. And we can load these hrs in Budget units.- How primavera will calculate the days for this activity. So is that right method or you can advise on that? If you want to have the units determine the duration for the activities you wil have to change the duration type fixed units. Add your material resource 1st then add the labor resource Thanks a lot for your reply and informative info. What i understand from your attachment, in order to get the man-hours first i have to assign the material resource and then labor resource. And by choosing the option of fixed units/time i can get the man-hours. But i do not want to use fixed units/time - i want to use Fixed Duration & units/time. What is the difference between all these types? if there is any guideline will be very thankful. Secondly, for installing the pipe i want to use 8 labors which is 5 skilled labor, 01 pipefitter, 2Helper. How i can assign all these to one activity. For pipefitter i understand but for any other case like 5 Skilled labor it means = 5*8=40 hrs/day - where to assign this type of info in Primavera. I have a schedule which is based on duration. How i can convert that in man- hours. And also will be very thankful if you can guide us what are the steps required when developing a schedule based on duration and what are the steps when we have to develop the schedule based on man-hours. Please elaborate in detail- Many Thanks in advance to create a schedule that is either duration driven or man-hour driven go to Projects mode (big button on the left) select you project

If you want to have the units determine the duration for the activities you wil have to change the duration typefixed units. Add your material resource 1st then add the labor resource

Thanks a lot for your reply and informative info.

How i can convert that in man-hours.

And also will be very thankful if you can guide us what are the steps required when developing a schedule based on duration and what are the steps when we have to develop the schedule based on man-hours.

Please elaborate in detail- Many Thanks in advance

to create a schedule that is either duration driven or man-hour driven

go to Projects mode (big button on the left) select you project select the defaults tab

now under the duration type select fixed duration & units for a duration driven schedule

for a man-hour driven schedule select fixed units

steps for developing a schedule based on durationestimate the man-hours by quantities of units that you are going to install. 1. Determine quantities2. Determine rate of installation3. determine # of men or crew size to use on the activitythis will determine your duration

you have to know how much of what you have to install before you can say how long it will take to install it. You also have to know average rate of installation
