How to Verify Your PayPal Account

There are a lot of people asking me how to verify their PayPal account, which of course,

bothered me too quite a long time ago. This was an issue to me back when PayPal was still so

new to me. Most freelancers get paid via PayPal, but before you get to use your PayPal

account with liberty, you need to have it verified first.

If you are new to this whole ordeal and have not signed up for a PayPal account yet, you have

to do it now, before you change your mind. Signing up for PayPal is easy. You can click here

to get started. After a successful sign up, you need to verify your e-mail address before

anything else. That’s why it is important that you provide a valid e-mail address upon sign up

so as for you to find it easy to move to the next step.

To verify your PayPal account, you need to have a valid credit card. In the Philippines, there

are a few options to choose from besides having a credit card. In my case, I chose to apply for

BPI’s My E-Prepaid Card. I will have to write a different post on how to apply for one. For

now, let’s just assume that you have your card at hand. When you do, you can now start with

the verification process.

Log on to your PayPal account and click on the “Verify Account” link. This will then take you

to the credit card page wherein you have to provide details of your card: the card number,

the security code and the expiration date. After this, you will be notified that an Expuse

Number has been sent to you card’s billing account and that a certain amount has been

deducted from your account. This is the reason why you need to make sure that your account

has at least Php150. I had Php200 when I verified my account just to make sure. Don’t worry

though; they will issue a refund as soon as you are able to provide them with the Expuse

Number that they sent.

To get the Expuse Number, you can send BPI an e-mail indicating that you need your Expuse

Number for your PayPal’s verification. Don’t forget to provide them with your name and the

details of your card. Expect a response within 24 hours.

As soon as you’ve received your Expuse Number, you can now log back on to your PayPal

account and enter the Expuse Number to finish your verification process. Voila! Your PayPal is

now verified! You will also notice that the refund will reflect on your current balance.

Cheers!
